Here's a couple more WIP pics, trigger and sight have been modeled and 3D printed, caulk (which I can't say without thinking of Beevis & Butthead) has been painted. Ignore the wood-filler and other misc unpainted patches

Have you every thought about going a run of kits of these and the profits mate can do toward more tools and projects for the school where you work ?
Excellent progress
I know there is a huge wanting of the Big Baby on here
Depends on the finished produce but I think it would do well..
It would be out of my price range but I know that a certain amount of members would be interested!
You could always start a INT (Interest) thread in the Junkyard just to gauge the interest
Would be good to see profits go to a good cause too!
But it is awesome.. may I asked how the butt was machined or made?
overall the shell is 96mm
the brass part is 27mm and 38mm diameter
the red part is 69mm high and 37.5mm diameter
the brass part has a lip on the bottom of it that is 3mm high and 40mm diameter
Awesome!! :thumbsup
I'd be interested in one, but I wouldn't want to guess at what it should sell for... as I don't really know how much time you've put in to it.
Do you plan on painting the Big Baby on the buttstock?
Your Big Baby project is looking outstanding!:thumbsup I am really enjoying the progress pics and story as well.
I have to agree, the weight is a huge factor if anyone plans on hauling this thing around in costume! I had the opportunity to hold the SideShow version for a photo and just doing that was tough! Take into consideration, I was using my right arm to support the weight of the gun; the same arm which had been carrying around the Right Hand of Doom for hours.
For display purposes, your version and the SideShow are tops. I like to be able to display and handle something that both looks and feels "authentic." But for costuming and carry, it would be great to have a lightweight stunt version.

BTW, I had been considering buying SideShow's Big Baby at the time of this photo, but just hefting it's weight for that brief moment changed my mind!
Again, great work, and I will be watching this thread with pleasure!

Well, I was planning to laserprint it onto a clear sticker, then vinyl cut the letters. It's been suggested to use a water transfer, although I'm not sure the benefits that would provide over the clear sticker...
But yes, one way of the other, big baby will be on there. I'm actually staining the stock as we speak...

Thanks for the kind words
very cool.
Just mentioning a problem we hit with a clear decal. The big baby logo has white eyes and teeth and as printers don't print white they are left transparent on a clear decal. We ended up painting it on in the end.
I would cut both the letters and the big baby head in vinyl, and use those a paintmask. Place the masks on the stock. Handpaint the area white and place the laser printed decal of the head on top of this. I provides the white background and will give and illusion of it being hand painted.
