My 1950's style robot for How to Survive the Strange

Going to change a few things. The sides need to be bolted on better and I'm going to have to add more support for the claws to the bucket. The arm/claw units need to be attached firmly to the hose pipe. Changing out or at least changing the style of the blinker on the chest. It's too modern looking.

Haha, great hommage !!! The vid only needs a few sound fx and maybe should be grainier. And what about putting a bit quick and dirty story into it, i.e. people examining it for a few seconds, the robot springs to life and starts walking towards them? Covering him up with spider webs and stuff so that it looks like he was out of order for quite some time. What about giving him an aged look?

I'll post the real video he will be in once it's done. He is going to be in the http://howtosurvivethestrange.wordpress.com/ web series. I'll mention your ideas on sound f/x. Having him be an old robot might work pretty well for the script. We will have to toss that idea around.

Thanks

p.s. Damn I forgot all about the rubbermaid name on the back of the robot. :unsure . More to do...

Had a great time at Granitecon today. My costume was very well received as were my props for the how to survive the strange panel. The thing is still too freaking hot and needs power venting. I'll wire some need soon. Met some RPFer's too that were in some great costumes. A great day. I have not enjoyed a con like that in years.

Looks awesome!!1
but it looks that you are going to tip over :p

Uneven ground and my feet are in sneakers that are screwed into plastic storage boxes that I used for my feet. It works really well the feet are solid but I have no bend to the ball of my foot. Limiting but it works for the robot :lol

I think you could definitely get away with adding a few low-tech vent ports

Wore it on Sunday. What a sweat trap. I have vents on the side but I'm going to vent out of the top of the head. I'll post some shots when I start. I like the retro vents. I need to refit it in a few months for a streampunk play so more ideas on that would be helpful.

Thanks Sean

You know I have some vent covers that would be perfect for that. Thanks for the idea. I never thought of using those for some reason.

I am putting the fan right into the top of the head. It's my hope to draw the air in via the mouth and the vent ducts I'm putting on the back. I have lots of room since my eyes are right at the mouth.
