my 12 inch POF Chewbacca stop motion puppet

After showing my self made stop motion figures C3-PO (http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?p=846086#post846086 and the Stormtroopers (http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=61198), I´d like to show you the third completely poseable stop motion puppet I sculpted and built him also for my POF-stop motion movie.(I do count the 45 Stormtroopers as one figure)

As I promised It´s Chewbacca. I was 17 years old, so a little older, when I built this third version of him. Here you see me sculpting:

This was the final result:

This was him on set and during the shooting process:

After 18 years he´s still in very good shape.
Even the mouth moves perfectly...which made me very happy:

the reason for bringing him out of the cellar and back into daylight was that he´s a nice reference addition to my latest lifesize project I am building now: two 1:1 Chewie stand ups / costumes with moveable mouth mechanism:

On our movie premier 1996 we´ve shown my POF-Chewie next to other props and figures from our movie version of the millenium falcon cockpit:

He also was on several of our movie posters:

I´d like to know who should I show next, and if you like my "Minniechew"

If you want to know more: here´s a link to our movie storybook:

Re: Chewbacca stop motion figure

That's pretty cool, Joe. Whatever happened to the film you made these for?

Oh, and who is the douche one starring THIS?!?

Thank you for your post Qui Gonzalez.
Powerplay of forces-Spielball der Mächte (which is the original title of the film)
was our private movie project Michael Ördög, who wrote the stoy, Bernhard Köhler, who composed the music and me who built all the figures started as teenager and finished it when we were twens. These days Michael and me studies Graphic design and met us in high school.
Our movie itself was shown on several theatres and Conventions as a non profit amateur film, which it is. We made some copies of the movie on Video, later on DVD, but needed some distance to all that crazy work which it was. It had been very streessfull years, and we had to focus on other things after that. Michel, Bernhard and me are all still best friends.
Two or three years from now, I put all I have out again. Because I am the keeper of all the stuff.
I´m still working on to achive all we had and restore the footage. But I have to admit, that it doesn´t have any priority for me. So it can take some time until I make another improved version out of it in 5.1 stereo sound.

The doushe one starring inTHIS? You mean who played the main role in that movie, or behind the curtain? Please explain.

Re: Chewbacca stop motion figure

The Chewie has a great likeness. Hope we will see a great one from Sideshow in the future too.

Re: Chewbacca stop motion figure

Great work all around, but that 1:1 Chewie head is one of the best I've seen.

Thank you guys!!!

Slave1, it has to be good. It has to complete the circle for me. As I mentioned before: I will make a separate thread about him sometimes.
One of my lifesize Chewie is needed for the opening movie for the next Jedi Con in 2010. It´s still in the making. So I have to finish him asap. It´s so time consuming. I´m very proud that he moves his mouth as well, as on the original trilogie Chewie did.

This photo shows the two bodies I carved out of styrofoam. One shows that it is covered with the Rubies suit as reference. I won´t use the rubies. The real ones will have a special body suit in which we are "knitting" hair by hair into. I´m telling you more of it when I open a thread about it

the chewbacca suit is amazing it should go in his own tread. the little one is impressive but the lifesize is mind blowing all the work with the fur.

Re: POF Chewbacca stop motion puppet

the mini Chewie is pure awesomeness. The sideshowcollectors forum has been debating whether or not one could be done at 1/6th scale with "real" fur.
You sir have achieved that with flying colors. I'm looking forward to your full size Chewbacca. Impressive work.

Thank you for you warm words d_jedi1.
It took me only one day to apply fur on the entire Body and head as well. And I was 17 then. So I think Sideshow could do.

Re: POF Chewbacca stop motion puppet

Awesome mini-Chewie, Trap Joe. And it's very cool to see you revisit this after so many years, and come full circle with the 1:1 Chewie figures.

I especially like the shot of 1:1 Yoda playing with his mini-Chewie doll.

"Mine! Mine, or I will help you not!" :p

Thank you Temponaut. :lol I´m glad that you like my Mini-Chewie. And the Yoda shot as well. Sometimes I like to make funny shots like this. I do have some, but not enough time to make special photo sessions, which I would like to do...

Yes, It´s a lot of fun to me to bring these old Star Wars projects back from memory and share it. I can enjoy it nowadays. It´s so great to get all the response. Believe me I couldn´t always enjoy it in the past. It was so hard and crazy work. I even passed out once before a shooting session...:wacko
That´s maybe one reason why I´d like to bring this projects behind me in the past.

Thank you Darth Niob. I thought maybe you knew this already:$
Yes I did around 312 Star Wars stop motion puppets for "Spielball der Mächte" between 1987 and 95. As I remember this was the number I counted back then, when I finished a gonk droid - my last figure back in 1995. So it have been definately around 300 selfmade 12 inch star Wars figures.
The collection I made consists of Imperials, Rebels, own characters, Aliens and monsters.
