MUSIC question: sound a-like-themes, and common songs?

Is there an actual term for music that is specifically designed to sound alike, but not be identical to, film and TV scores? For example, a sitcom does a "James Bond" type episode, so they play that (almost) familiar guitar rift, but with notes in different places so as to avoid copyright infringement.

Similar to when an Indian Jones style adventure, or Star Wars / space fantasy film or TV show does the same thing.

Also, can anyone name any commonly used music from Movie trailers / TV shows?

I'm trying to find some examples....

When it comes to movie trailers, "Immediate Music" makes a bunch of it. I used to have a ton of their music and it was really well made.

I keep hearing "The Dragon's Heartbeat" by Danny Elfman, which is Bruce Lee's theme in Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, in any trailer that needs "inspirational" music. It's even the music they pipe in while you're waiting in line for the Soarin ride at Disneyland.
