I'm planning to start applying latex onto my Mr Incredible suit within the next few weeks & plan on posting up a thread w/ a few pics of the process as it comes along. So keep checking back over the next month or so & it should help out u & many others here greatly in getting a better idea about how it should be done to achieve the best possible results. I've gotten a ton of tips, hints & tricks on this step from some of the more long-time members here & since this question comes up at least once a week, I feel there's certainly a strong need for adding a thorough tutorial that will list out as many of these things in a single thread.

Until then, u should search through as many of the old posts that are already here to get a better idea of what materials u'll need & what to expect in order to accomplish this step. :)

First off you have to have some form to put the suit on. You want this form to be your body size or close. You need to stretch the arms and legs and tape them down, because latex shrinks. If you have a sprayer you can spray the latex on this will give you a smooth skin. You can use a roller but this gives you a bumpy texture. Let the first layer dry and then add on the next layer. 3 layers is good any more the suit gets heavy and harder to move in. It is good to tint the latex with an off white tint to help hide the red color and give you a base for you to paint on. I like to mix my latex 50/50 with distilled water it helps in a smooth finish.

Scott i dont understand why you have to be so godamn rude and condescending in your posts.

I see it all the time im sick of it! Quit it will ya?

Ok take it how you want. I type my stuff out short and direct. If you want to take it as being rude then so be it. Its text and I just type it the way I always have. (misspelled words and all) If it bothers you that much then don't read my posts. I'm not trying to be rude, just typing what I think short and direct.

Sorry I didn't put the LOL after my comment to the guys reply.

Scott, wouldn't diluting the latex as much as 50% as you're saying above make it too thin? I'm sure you know what you're doing, I have never done this, so I'm trying to get a handle on it. I guess that's why 3 coats are necessary. What kind of tint do you use to color the latex, and what would be the ratio of paint to latex? My other question is, you mention a sprayer above, what kind of sprayer are you referring to and where could it be purchased?
Thanks,
Carl
p.s. I'll be looking for that LOL at the end of your reply :)

HEHE

My be I should have not gave a ratio and said to the thickness of milk. The rd-407 latex I have it really thick and not all latex is the same thickness. I use universal tint from the hardware store cost 9.00 for a bottle. Its use to tint paints and plasters and 2 to 4oz will tint a full 5 gallon bucket of latex. If i was using paint as a tint I do 1oz to 16oz of latex. I use a sprayer I got from Harbor Freight it cost me 9.00 on sale.
