A great model, but I'm not keen on the paint job - doesn't look much like the master that MR has been showing.

Still - congrats on a fun purchase.

Todd

OK, some initial observations . . . .

1) Absolutely incredible. I love it.

2) New turret design is much better over original idea. Now the turret can be displayed separately (or not at all) - the choice is the consumer's - always a plus . . . .

3) The plaque can be displayed on either the turret or the included black display stand - another nice touch. I was debating what I was going to do and now I have a choice - thnaks, MR.

4) Had my son hold it to give you a bit of scale. Also used a Hasbro Stormtrooper figure to help as well. The thing is HUGE.

5) I'm not as well-versed in the weathering aspect of these things, but to me it looks amazing. Took the outdoor pics for yodaman . . . .

6) The box was very long and slender - you can definitely see the difference in it not having a display case . . . .

7) The plaque design (could not take that picture because my camera just couldn't get close enough) is the OLD ROTS design so no final edition number - so I guess this means another plaque will be coming my way . . . .

Oh, and I got #304 . . . . was definitely hoping for a higher number . . . . oh well.

Thanks for sharing all the pics. Looks pretty nice. Not sure about $700 worth of nice, but an attractive piece. I've heard, too, that the paint job leaves something to be desired. There has been some discussion going on here in the modeling forums, so you may want to check that out as well.

I'll have to check that out, thanks. As I said, that is one aspect (weathering) that I am not too familiar with - it's one of the reasons I've wanted to join the RPF for so long - you guys really KNOW your stuff.

For a factory paint job..I think it looks darn good. She is next on my list...vacation or Y-wing??? :cry thinks me going on vacation or the wife and kids will beat me to death.

as for price $700 is damn good...a resin studio scale kit can cost $350 or more...you need to worry about resin seeping issues, poorly cast parts...missing parts etc. Then you need to build it, glue, paint and time are all expenses. Then you need a stand...mirrored and custom...price if we were to do it? Most likely a lot.

The MR ship is done, clean and accurate as for color and part placement so many say...it is as close to a Screen used we are going to get.

It also has metal parts, full color photos a stand/base and is made to stay rigid and not warp as do many resin kits.

Look at it this way...Tamyia (spelling ?) model kit company has some of the most expensive plastic kits out there..$80 for a Abrams tank 1/35 scale kit...BUT it goes together like a dream and is SUPER accurate...well worth it.......Other companies produce the same tank for $20 but a ton of work and extra expense is needed to make it accurate

SO.. $700 for a SUPER large SOLID model that need some paint tweaking is SUPER FAIR in my book.

I WILL BE GETTING ONE :p :love

Just my humble opinion :p

JUST WHY NO PILOTS............ this is my only gripe with the Snow Speeder, Y-wing and Falcon in which I sculpted my own Chewie and Han for my MR Facon sitting in my work shop right now :D :D :D

The amount of work that put into the MR falcon is quite SICK.... it has a FULL METAL skeleton ... HEAVY but SOOOO strong.

I think the paint looks pretty good for being done en masse. The only thing I don't like about larger displays like this is that you really need to keep them in a case or something else to keep the dust off of them. Over the years, even dusting and compressed air won't keep it all off. But I guess for some, the cases just take up too much room

Looks fantastic to me, dude. great purchase. Very impressive MR collection you have going there too. Also great to see the family getting in on the act.

All around, a very impressive show. Great pics too.

Thanks.

Yeah, I definitely miss having a case for it, but I have a line on a local shop where I should be able to get one done for not a terrible amount.

Glad you guys like the pics . . . . not much of a photographer and not much of a digital camera. :p

Love the photo essay but have to say the paint job concerns me... I'd be hard pressed not to re-paint it. For $700 I'd be ok with that, but it worries me thinking about the MR Falcon. Good luck accurately recreating that paint job from an overseas factory...

I have one on order. I was a little worried about the paint with all the concern lately, but Im leaving my order in. I may weather her up a bit myself, that being said, I dont think any fan of Star wars ships would not enjoy having this in their collection as it is out of the box. Thanks for posting the pics.

Is that the BEST paint work they can do?
I am sorry but I think the paint job on that beautiful Y-wing replica really sucks.

Don't forget this is a mass produced item. I've never seen a killer paint job on ANY mass produced item. If you want a superb paint job, hire someone like Dean D. Or Steve the swede to do it.. imagine those guys having to paint like 1000 of these things? MR can't afford to do that.
Don't forget the Snowspeeder and At At have the same mass produced paint jobs so you guys shouldn't expect anything better out of Master Replicas. I do think however MR should not have charged so much for this, they should have kept the price the same as the snowspeeder.

It's truly a beautiful model. Makes me wish I wasn't dirt poor.

My only gripe is that weathering - it looks like Vietnam era tiger-stripe camoflauge.

Other than that, :thumbsup

It does look good..
But Y-wings are supposed to be white and heavily weathered, not grey.

So who will be the first to repaint theirs???

I'm going after this....

It's killing me that I don't have the room to collect the studio scale models. They are beautiful. Nice collection.
