MR surfacer question

Hi All, I have a Romulan distrupter resin casting, and there are a lot of small bubbles in the edges of the cast that need to be filled.

I've done this kind of thing before with milliput, but wondered if MR surfacer would do the job quicker.

Has anyone used it for this kind of thing, or is it more of a primer just for minor filling jobs.

I've tried using it on a B5 shuttle that had lots of tiny air bubbles all along the sides. It doesn't seem to do anything so far. As far as I can tell it doesn't do anything that painting regular primer on would do.
