MR Han Solo scratched plaque, need help

Selling off my collection, mostly on eBay <sandysimon6>, although I have placed some items here on the RPF.

One of the problems I have is with the plaque from my Han blaster. I've attached some photos so you can see what I am dealing with.

Any ideas for restoration?

I'm sorry, but if your MR Han Solo blaster has the plague, then I don't think anyone here can give you any advice that would help you sell it.

Just describe it as having a scratch?

I doubt there is anything you can do to get rid of it if it's deep into the metal. You could maybe try some metal polish.

Jeff, I can't think of a way to 'fix' it, but you could try buffing the areas where there is no type.

Alternatively, leave it alone- the words on the plaque describe a unique piece which should be enough for a collector. Just a thought.

Dunno if this would work, but what about spraying a thick layer of clearcoat over the plaque?

Once or twice I've found this to 'cover all sins'...

Here's one way to fix it.

Clean up the scratch with steel wool, and silkscreen new text onto it.
