MR Falcon

Got mine - #12 Signature edition Wahoo.... Its totally awesome. I was totally surprised at how HEAVY that sucker is...

This is a totally awesome piece. I'm going to break out my reference pics and start a comparison pretty soon. After I get off the initial high of actually having the Falcon flying next to my desk :D

IT'S THE ENTERPRISE CHASING THE FALCON .

That Enterprise display still gives me a hard-on.

Opened my falcon and set it all up yesterday- this thing is heavy.. It does look great- overall I am very pleased---

Quick question-- what is the little spring for?? I found no instructions for that piece in the box or MR Paperwork.

This is quoted from Philip Wise over at Rebelscum:

One unpacking note. There is a spring that goes on top of the mounting post before putting the falcon on it. I noted it with a photo because the instructions say it's with the radar dish, but it wasn't not. I was worried it wasn't included.

I thought that might have been what it was for- but I was afraid it might effect the electrical circuit for the lights.

Thanks Superjedi.

PS I was jumping without the springs :D

P.S.

I couldn't wait for my wife to get home from shopping so

I unpacked and set up my Falcon ALL BY MY SELF ..... lol

Ha, ha, ha.. :D

I did that, too. Since you 'fessed up, I will.

It can be done. Not easy, but it can be done.

I built a custom cabinet for my Falcon that stands 30-1/2" high. Today, I priced out an acrylic cover for it. Multicraft Plastics, here in Oregon, will build me an acrylic cover for $270. That may sound high, but I decided to get a cover that will work on my cabinet with other models, too. So, my acrylic cover's dimensions are 36"x26.25"x24" at 3/16" thick, with flame polished seams.

My cabinet will also "store" the falcon inside, so I can rotate my display. I plan to use it for MR's TOS E, as well.

I would LOVE to hear what everyone uses to display their larger models. I've been looking at the online IKEA catalog to find some type of table, chest of drawers or something I can use to set my Enterprise - A on and possibly buy a second for my Falcon. I think getting something custom built would be pretty spendy.

My plans are to eventually build a pedastal for the Falcon. Maybe have it stand 4 ft tall or so. Then have the base of the Falcon recessed down a bit so the mirror is flush with the top of the pedastal. I'll have the pedastal sitting out in the middle of the room so folks can walk around the entire Falcon and check out all the detail. I'm still quite aways away from executing the plan.

Before the MR base was a known, I was thinking that it would be fitting to build the Cloud City landing pad from ESB; round pad with causeway. In reality, I think ILM's landing pad was built to accomodate the 4' Falcon, so the pad wouldn't be studio scale. But, with all the deck lights around the pad perimeter... Would be quite attractive if you have the space.

I spent $40 building my cabinet from MDF. It's nothing fancy. Three fixed sides, an interior "bottom", 2 shelves inside (yet to be cut) and a removeable front panel with mitered corners. Gets the job done and now my "build" table is open for business again, more importantly.

I am building a custom coffee table bas and rest assured I will post pictures. I am waiting until the Falcon comes though so I can get the dimensions perfect.

Dear Mr. Osborne :

Your invoice is attached for your records.

The MR Falcon will be shipping earlier than expected, actually later this week.
And as soon as I have a Tracking # I will pass it along.

Thank you for your business - we appreciate it very much.[/b]

You got that right, think I woulda snapped another shot. :p

You guys are harsh.

Here's a better quality version of the pic. Harrison Ford was amiable and fun during the shoot and signing session.
