MR Falcon

Definitly be saving mine, not ever planning on selling it but never know when I might need to transport it for some reason.

Does anyone know the dimensions(width/ height/ length) of the shipping box on the Falcon yet ?

Unit (Shipping Case)
Dimensions: 48”x36”x24”
Weight: 103 lbs

How many of you will be saving the shipping carton? I save mine for possible sales in the future or when I move. But the size of that box and my limited storage will make that practice impossible for this replica.
[/b]
Hmm, I wonder if it will fit through the attic hole?

Heck, that box will be my attic.

I got a voicemail from Master Replicas this afternoon. Unfortunately, I was in a meeting and missed it. By the time I was able to return the call, the representative was gone for the day.

When I checked my account online with MR, their system shows that my order was shipped...TODAY.. And, I got a "P" code. Just hoping I didn't get # 1.... :)

The outer box is big. It's filled with foam padding which suspends an inner box which containes the molded EPS (expanded polystyrene) unit which houses the model, the stand, the radar dish, and the collateral etc.

MR recommend three people be available to unpack the bird. She's heavy, akward, but well worth the TLC.

Whoo hoo mine shipped today too. :D Where is this shipping letter code located? Is it part of the SW-155-P code?
Ok...I backtracked thru the thread and having the P code you will get a random number between 1-300.

Well, that's my assumption, IIRC that far back in this thread.... :)

Philip over at Rebelscum just received his Falcon. Here's a gallery of pics from the unpacking to the displaying of the Falcon. Looks great, but definitely needs a display case cover IMO. Can't wait for mine in a couple of weeks.

*Note* The radar dish hasn't been added to the Falcon model in the gallery pics (yet).

Looking at the pics of the first falcon to arrive I've noticed a few things, I've been afraid that the finish on the production model from comic con would not be typical of what most would receive and after looking at these pics I'm even more concerned. The painted panels as well as the weather streaking just don't seem to be as nicely executed as they do on the CC model to me. It could be just lighting for some things but here is a pic of the comic con production model and the first shipped falcon both shot with flash. I circled the areas I noticed in red, is it just me, tell me what you guys think.

wow I didn't know the signature edition was also shipping already

From the looks of the base the plastics company that did my cover for my fxcompany.com Enterprise - A build can make me a case to cover the falcon in 3-4 days.

Nope, no cover comes with it. Supposedly MR is working on offering one, but no solid details have been offered yet. I'm guessing many owners will be considering sourcing their own to get it under some plexi/acrylic. I know I have no desire to have to dust this bird.

I dont't see a plexiglass cover. Please tell me it came with a cover.

Let me first state that I do not own an MR falcon, nor have I seen a production version in person. That said, having looked at the photos posted of the first falcons received, and having personally reviewed the CC specimen and taken over 100 photographs of it at the show, I am in agreement that the production paint is what I feared. It's way simplified, and not well executed. In some areas it looks very bad.

No offense to Barry or anyone else involved in the pre-production, but this is not what I hoped the final product would be. Another scary question is how will the finish look towards the end of the run? :(

If the CC falcon was indeed produced by the same Chinese factory...what happened?

I agree--I saw the CC MR MF in person and it had a much better weathering job than the one in the rebel scum unpacking pictures. I am fearful we may have another Y Wing scenario on our hands when it comes to the paint job-- this is a CHALLENGING paint and weathering job to be sure--but that is what we paid for...I have my fingers crossed the weathering looks better and is more subtle in person-ESPECIALLY when I unpack mine...fingers crossed.

That top mandible doesn't look much like Dean's, either. :confused

All things considered, I wasn't really expecting a better paint job than this. I assumed I would end up painting mine. Just because I would want to get it as close as possible to the references available. I knew that wasn't the goal of the factory. The factory had a deadline to get these things out the door.

As I understand it, there is a team of painters. Doubtless, some are better at their art than others. I think we will see that each Falcon will look somewhat different. Some, perhaps, more different than others...

I'm surprised to see an SE arriving so early. And, a little disappointed, as those weren't supposed to ship before the LEs. Maybe all the SEs got painted (practiced on) first. :) :angel

Well... The CC copy was (as we all know) an artists proof...

I'm most surprised by how clean the top turret and gun are. Barely any weathering; nearly pure white paint. And different lighting scenarios aside, the red on the CC version looks much more correct -- less "hot".

On the other hand, this particular forum is populated by some wearthering and painting miracle workers, and some Falcon Fanatics. For many buyers of the MR Falcon, I'm confident they will be most pleased.

For the rest of us there's always primer and Floquil. ;)

Wow - comparing those two photos I think how very similar the paint jobs look. All the detailing. Oil and blast marks.

The colors are slightly different but the lighting is very different and that can account for one looking darker than the other.
