as long as he doesn't provide any spoilers on the new story line, i would watch itPrincess Bride - Mark Ruffalo could totally pass as Prince Humperdink.
I think this would be one of my top picks. The movie's premise was amazing, but it doesn't hold up to today's standards. The Black Hole with James Franco in the lead.
Back to the Future, Tom Holland as Marty and.... hmmmm, I’m drawing a blank on Doc Brown. Need some help with that one.
Christopher Loyd.
No excuse. No explanation. Every other actor is different except Christopher Loyd. Doc Brown is just even older.

The idea is, although the particular movie shouldn't be remade, as it was as close to perfect as possible the first time, if it were to be remade, what would be the perfect casting/director, etc.Not sure I understand this thread but The Nightmare Before Christmas should never be remade, but being a Disney movie, I predict it will be announced in the next 2-3 years...
I just saw a pic of one of our members in Snake Plissken gear, but with short hair, and it brought Chris Hemsworth to mind. Maybe reboot the franchise with Carpenter at least producing. I mean, it could be worse...There are just some films that cannot be made better.
I submit Escape from New York.

We know how Halloween turned out, both the remake and reboot. How was Assault on Precinct 13? I haven't seen either version. Most of John Carpenter's hits are highly remake-able.
I mean that in the business sense. I don't expect to prefer most of those remakes over the originals.
