Moulding a part for a SS Model...

Hey...

Its been a while since I posted anything, but I have been working on a SS project for some time now, and have been trying to work out a problem.

I need to cast a piece that will fit around the model. Because of its size (1 meter in length), I would really like to cast it hollow, and in fiberglass, as I made the main body of it. Does anyone have any idea which would be the best method to make the parts? I have tried using latex rubber, but that didn't work... I also tried making a plaster cast, and reinforcing the veins with some material (fine fiberglass mesh), but that did not work either.

Im really stumped on this one. Bellow are pictures of the part I need to make a mould from. Any help would be appreciated, and Im sure some of you would get a kick in seeing the final piece... :)

I think the best way is to make a mold from fiberglass and resin. They usually do it for this kind of work.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
