Most expensive lightsaber

Do you know what is the most expensive lightsaber that can be found, other than screen-used props?

Other than screen-used items? I would assume that it would be an all real/correct parts ANH Obi-wan saber...

Custom made sabers that are expertly machined and have high-end custom sound boards in them with lighted crystal chambers and a chassis that simulate the internals of a real saber can get pretty expensive. Usually these high-end sabers sell anywhere from $500 to $2000. It depends on the electronics used, the work that went into it as well as the saber smith as to what the prices will be.

The most expensive custom saber that I know of was one that was auctioned off on ebay. It was a Korbanth Obi-Wan TPM/AOTC saber that had a really nice sound board, chassis and crystal chamber reveal. I believe it sold for around $4000.

YES!, well..not me, but there are a handful of members on here who have successfully made the "holy Grail" so to speak. Just search in the replica props forum

Whoa! nice one!! thanks for sharing!

Yeah, I bought that from Dan a year or two ago. I was sorry that he had to sell it because I know he didn't want to, and can only imagine the amount of work that went into researching and building it. But at least it's being displayed instead of sitting in a box or drawer somewhere. It's truly an awesome prop; I doubt that I would have had the patience to source all the original parts for this beauty on my own.

How much did you pay for it? if it can be known.

I never knew these details. Very cool. Glad I was able to check out that link. One of the cooler prop facts I've learned on here. Thanks!

A holy grail of sorts for lightsaber replica enthusiasts, this set-accurate Obi-Wan battle-tested blade has been built from the same rare found parts as the original screen-used hero prop.
Emitter: Rolls Royce Derwent Mk 8 jet engine balance pipe 16-hole beveled interconnector.
Front grip and shaft: Reversed British WWI Number 3 Mk 1 rifle grenade and windvane.
Control box: Graflex 3-Cell flash clamp, TI Exactra 20 calculator bubble display, and Motorola TO-99 transistors.
Rear grip: Booster section from a WWII Browning ANM2 machine gun flash suppressor.
Pommel: Vintage metal/plastic Armitage Shanks cold water tap handwheel.
Also featuring the correct clamp set screw, booster wire and pommel D-ring, this stunning piece is rock solid and yet can be completely field stripped and re-assembled.
Researched, sourced and built by D Stokes.

Thanks a lot. I'm glad that it went to a good guy and a great collection.

I've actually been able to gather up all original the parts to make another version of this prop. So all's well that ends well:$

Sorry for the dumb question, but what makes Obi-Wan's sabre so special? There are three sabres in used ANH and wouldn't all 3 be considered "grail"?

No question is dumb. The special thing about that saber is that the props team used several items to build it, differently to the other ones that were built using 3 or 4 items. Today it is very hard to gather all these items in order to build one like this.

Sometimes I can't believe that photo is still circulating around. I really should have put my name on it somewhere.

Hahaha :lol so you're the author?? That pic was really useful to me for detailing my saber, and I'm sure it has been to others too. Great legacy you have left.
