Mortal Kombat Costume question

I was thinking about these the other day, and I still want to make one or two of them.

My question is, basically, does anyone know of a pattern on the net for the "vest" portion of the costume for the ninja guys? Scorpion, Sub Zero, Reptile and Smoke all have the same costume, just different colored tabbards (if that is the right word).

Also, is there anyplace online to get vintage BMX armor? I kind of want to take a crack at Cyrax as well, and the armor in the movie was based on a set of BMX armor.

Also, any ideas on where to get a "normal" brow of a face? I can pad out a mannequin, but the facial features are always going to be undersized, and therefore the mannequin will look like crap. I can't lifecast myself, or anyone else for that matter, but I was hoping somewhere there was an artist helper model or something of a face looking angry that I could use.

Any helps appreciated on it.

Which version? I'm assuming MK3? I remember clearly that the one used for the actual game's characters was modified BMX armor with the exception of the helmet and add-ons.

Yea, it was horrible, but it had Ray Park as Cyrax, and the costume looked pretty cool.

Kabal wouldn't be too hard though...

Sorry for the necro thread...

But just got looking at a few things. I figure doing an MK3 version Sektor/Cyrax/smoke would be relatively easy. Since the game makers used live actors in costume, I imagine that they used BMX/motocross armor made sometime before 1994 or 95. Aside from finding the same design armor, the hardest part would be making the helmet/mask. I really did not like the one they made for cyrax in the movie, it looked to flat faced, where in the game, it has a more streamlined look to it

But the undersuit is easy (underarmor like TK's), belt, belt boxes and buckle are so low detail, that that's easy, the loin cloth think, holy crap, thats easy. Yea, this looks pretty cool to do though

I forget exactly where I read it but I know the helmet was made by a local artist in Chicago (close to Midway)

Hmm..I'm looking through what I can find. Having a hard time trying to find their products made during the time of the game's development

The game was made in the last decade, right? Because that stuff is not that old.

The costumes between the game(s) and movie are vastly different. I have a Sub-Zero costume myself, which I bought off a member here and it looks and wears pretty good, but is more based on the Sub Zero of the first movie.

Anyway I've had a look through my folders and found a few picture that may help (from the film).

In one video, one of the artists talked about the suit, and said that the main armor was REAL protective armor, but that the helmet/mask was custom built

There is no doubt that it is actual MX armour (roost deflector), but I can't place it the brand. I am pretty sure it is Thor, Sinisalo... or AXO.

I am actually leaning towards AXO, based on their protectors made now, I see features in it that resemble the one used for the costume.

But the AXO armour of that period did not look like that... I am certain of it.

This was back in the mid-90s, right? To be honest, it looks more like stuff from this decade.

Try looking for Acerbis, as well. They had a similar style.
