Hello guys
Thanks for your contact the other week.

I have received the helmet I shared the other week, so wanted to share pics along with letter of authenticity and signed book along with just one page where it references these helmets

Still on the fence but interesting none the less

Very interesting piece to say the least   (y) (y) I was almost 20 years old when I saw ANH in '77;)
I went to a mini-expo, in Brussels, at the time and, as you can see in this picture, there's a Stormtrooper helmet + C3PO in a glass case at the back.
I've always wondered if those were already Don Post? Sorry for the pic, but I just had a Kodak Instamatic:p

Thanks for the update and pictures. I would suggest you ask the mods to merge this with the other thread about this to keep things simple and easy to follow.

The picture of the Vader hard parts in that book is of the Elstree/GH/Fyberdyne style armor that links back to Don Post. The helmet especially is heavily reworked and does not match the screen used helmets.

The only real shot I remember from the movies where there are a lot of troopers is the Emperor arrival scene and much of that scene was just the same little segment of troopers repeated optically. And then perhaps at the Endor scenes where you do spot weirdly shaped helmets - but not painted like the one above. In ESB the only shot that needed a lot of troopers was the Bespin scene where the heroes are betrayed, but those were all refurbished ANH armor. Can the big order of trooper helmets simply have been used for tour duty all over the US instead?

Hello again mate
Thanks for your reply!
I will message the mods and see what they say

Regarding use, I think I copied all his messages in the last thread, but a quick part of the explaination is below;

If I remember correctly the costs were somewhere between 5 and 6 to one, so they had bunches on hand for whenever they needed them. They also damaged some and used them as post battle props sometimes.

I’ll try get these threads merged then it’s much easier to see the previous stuff

Thanks for sending this image, is that a screen used C3po?
Yes indeed (at the right was a screen-used R2). The poor C3PO was banged-up with some gaffer tape at the back of the calf + heels.;)
I tried to contact Don Bies who was in charge of the archive at the ranch...but so far, no radio signal:(
It seems that this mini expo was only done for Brussels (20th Century Fox has an office and distribution location in Brussels).
The list of props/models are:
C3PO
R2D2
One Stormtrooper helmet
One C3PO full mask/helmet
One YWing screen-used model
One XWing screen-used model
All of McQuarrie paintings describing the major scenes in the movie
A dozen of lobby cards in the corridor leading to the main expo

hey again
Thanks for this
So what was the don post there described as? Just a replica or as being from the movie ?
Just wondering if this was purely for screen used stuff of the C3po and everything else was used too

I know that, according to the lady/receptionist at the expo, everything was screen-used. The thing that really made me do a double take was the fact that the Stormtrooper lid +plastic C3PO (kid size it seems) were in pristine condition...unlike the robots + 2 models.
Don't forget that Belgium censor board was the only body (country) in the World that asked LFL + 20th CF to cut 3 scenes from the movie (deemed too violent for the time and not age appropriate of 14):)
So, was it a marketing campaign done specifically for Belgium to make a "mea culpa" or something else? Don Bies should have the answer to all of that...or maybe 20th CF in Brussels:unsure:

Going by that threepio neck it certainly looks like a Don Post, I always wanted one till I saw them in the flesh..
The Stormtrooper doesn't have the bulky Hightown that I've seen on his Stormtrooper..

Wow mate! It's nice to see a blow-up version of my pic:) I wish I could remember how the ears of that Stormtrooper were like...
The C3PO lid was really small, as you can see, compared to the Stormtrooper helmet.

No worries I wish it was a better edit but too much edit looses real detail and replaces it with fake pixels..
We only had one mask shop in town and they were priced out of my pocket money range..

I had to make do with these, but I liked them on my wall..

Thanks for that pic mate; never saw those masks in Brussels:unsure:...Too bad my camera wasn't a pro one; could've taken more detailed pics (XWing + YWing models):(
