Well the first round of the Moon auction is over (and I'm unsure if there is indeed a second round).

Here are the auction photos and prices realized, FYI:

Enjoy...

Edit: There is no second round - these are all the photos and prices realized (thanks, Birdie).

Very strange. There ahould have been a final day tomorrow. There is no second round, btw.

"Moon" was the best movie I have seen this year, hands down! :thumbsup I watched these auctions and would have loved to bid on a couple of the items, but this just isn't a good year for spare money :unsure

I scored Sam's video walkman, there was another couple of items I was planning on bidding on tomorrow :angry

Pretty cool stuff. :thumbsup

It's those rovers I envy most.

Especially considering how few miniatures are ever built now days.

So that's it then.

Btw, I saw that - eBay kind of hiccuped and the items went missing for a few hours.

However, they went back up and the auction ended. I updated the prices realized and the link in the first post.

I'm so gutted at the timing of this. I loved this film, and I would've gotten myself something from this auction (especially seeing the prices some things went for... within my 'acceptable' range) - apart from the fact that this month... this one single month... my wife is changing jobs and has to pay back a £1,800 bonus which effectively means she gets no wage this month... ARGH! Why did it have to be THIS month?? *sobs* lol

I was looking forward to Moon being realeased in the cinemas
in the UK.
But from a tv advert I saw on TV it seems it's gone too DVD already?
anyone know why?

It was out in July or August. I saw it at FACT in Livrpool, but it did show at the bigger multiplexes.

(Wikipedia)

Budget: $5,000,000
Gross revenue: $7,166,021

Not a bad return on investment for a small budget film. Add the profits from the prop sales and you're probably at $7,200,000.

Thanks again oldzey for posting the auction archive :thumbsup

I'm still mad at myself for not bidding on the Helium 3 container that went for 140GBP, especially since I was following that auction live and simply thought it would sell for much more than that anyway :unsure

The movie in my eyes is a masterpiece and it's a bloody shame how it was treated by Sony. I kind of got the feeling that they simply grabbed the rights before anyone else did so the movie won't be a competition for the stuff they produced themselves. I was very glad about the UK Blu-Ray release in early November which I had on preorder, especially since the movie hasn't been (and won't be) released in germany.

Has anyone researched any Moon props yet? I've been in several stores to find cups that resemble the red (painted) or orange lunar industries ones, but haven't been successful yet.

One prop that I spotted right away the first time I watched the movie is the cover Sam takes off the wall to sabotage the tech behind it: Search at ikea for RATIONELL VARIERA, take two of the mid-size ones and turn them upside down ;) The smaller as well as the larger sized ones were also used on the walls inside the station.

Ditto on the helium 3 cannister. I bid on the subsequent ones, but they went too high :(

I did, however, win Sam's minidisk player. The prop is made from a miniature alarm clock, with a minidisk case and disk attacched.

I came so close to owning the Gertie arm. Beaten by a couple of £ in the last few moments. :( No idea where I'd have put it anyway.

Great film.
I lost out on a few items but did aquire the Gerty Pyramid ball puzzle.
