Monogram USS Voyager, the "I don't know what I'm doing" build.

Love the new Avatar! :) ( Always trust your instincts... even when your wrong, some good will come of it! :) )

Ruddiger, have you or do you intend to paint the clear pieces on the nacelles. I painted main but am wondering if on the next build that i use the right coloured LED whether or not there would be a need to. Just wondered what you had done or are planning?

I havent given much thought to that yet, but my understanding is that the filming model has clear lenses and colored lighting.

Really nice. I keep looking at the Voyager on my shelf, then coming back to this and the other Voyager builds. Enjoying this!

I have too many projects right now too, which is why my progress is so slow.

I've hit a road block at the moment as well, I'm in the process of re-drilling oit all the upper saucer windows, but all my tiny drill bits have broken.

So annoying when something like that happens, like running out of a certain colour paint! Voyager gets a rest this weekend. Ive been doing some decal practice on a BSG viper i had lying around, really not looking forward to all of the decals on that Voyager kit!

I don't envy you all that drilling out of the acrylic. All I can really offer you, apart from my admiration, are my best wishes....I am certain you are doing the right thing, though. You will feel so much better when you have finished.
Still a great build, Mate!!

I ordered some new drill bits, so when I get here I can finish re-doing the primary hull. In the meantime I did a little more seam filling on the secondary hull. I also bought a new airbrush since my last one was crappy and half broken anyway. I'm still trying to decide what color to paint the hull.

Here it is with putty and more primer.

Marriage... ;-)

Funny, My wife WANTS me to build another Voyager. I guess she isn't happy with my 1:850 Bandai version? If I was to build another on I think I'd go with the custom window cells if anyone still makes them, and maybe some armor generators too.

Build looks good so far :)

Someone on the bay was selling interior cells to put on the clear windows. If memory serves, they where for the bigger windows, not the whole ship. I could probably make the generators but I'm not setup to make the window cells.

I should have never shown this tread to my wife. I get the "feeling" that my PL 350 will be put on hold while I try and find a 16 year old voyager model (the big one) and all the goodies that go with it. *sigh* I was looking forward to the PL.

Real shame that there isn't a bigger scale voyager than this because I would love a crack at it and a scratch build just is not an option! The PL 350 is still in the box but beckons to me every time i go into that damned modelling room.

I emailed Round 2 about Voyager and the Defiant in 350. I haven't heard a response yet but I did send it on Friday. I don't know how the licensing works upon experation, but I know voyager was a revell/monogram kit, not a AMT (round 2) kit. From what I've seen so far though Round 2 is just rereleasing revamped versions of kits AMT did in the past.
