MMPR Morpher prop. (need painting advice)

Hey guys!!!!!! Im excited to say that this is my first contribution to the RPF.

I know this is a small project but i dont want to mess it up.

i just recently purchased a power ranger morpher that is cast of resin and comes unpainted and will need a bit of spot putty here and there but what i need your help with is there are so many variations that people have done i want to do this right by you guys. So the below pictures are of the kit i bought and the pictures after are the few variations that i'm torn between.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

my concerns are do i paint it gold ? do i paint it the common gun metal silver that was the original idea. when i order replica stickers do i order the zyuranger or the regular usa version?

I want to show this prop respect i dont want to insult it putting the wrong color or sticker on it.

From your pic I'm guessing that it is one of Buzz's replicas. It looks really good.

It all comes down to which version you like the most. Off the top of my head these are all the ones I can think of.

Zyuranger-Silver and Gold, has the black bolts and Gold stickers on the back. The coin pictured is cast from the Zyuranger medallion and is more accurate to that series rather than MMPR. Zyuranger footage was used in MMPR and there are times you can see the Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger stickers on it.

MMPR
Season 1- When they morphed the morphers only had the red circles on, they didn't have the black bolts as shown in your second pic.
Season 2- The black bolts were added to the morphers.
Dino Thunder Fighting Spirit- The Green Rangers Morpher was actually Silver rather than being Gold.

This is what I personally think. Having the black bolts gives it a more finished look. As for which stickers to use, personally I used the Zyuranger stickers as Sentai footage was used alot. Still, if you prefer MMPR to Zyuranger you can use those ones instead.
Colourwise, It mainly comes down to which Ranger you prefer, any of the core 5 and you paint it silver, if it's the Green Ranger paint it Gold. Using the holster for a White Ranger morpher wouldn't work as that was never seen on screen.

If it comes down to it and you can't decide which one to do, you can save up and get another one if one does come up for sale. I couldn't myself so I got 3 of them as well as a Dino Buckler to create a display (Unfinished).

Wow that was a ton of help!!!!! im for sure doing the green ranger as i am working my way up to building a full green ranger suite. if i paint it gold then do i use the black bolts or do i just paint the whole thing gold as i showed in my photos. i think i want to go with the zyuranger stickers.

Yep, the holster should be painted black. Using the kit picture as reference the part casted in black stays black, the Holster gets painted black and the other piece get's painted gold. Going with the Zyuranger stickers you do use the black bolts, If you wanted MMPR accuracy you wouldn't use them as the MMPR Green Ranger never had them. The small round piece is the button and should be painted red.

Personally I wouldn't, that version is from the Movie and was different to the series. The main differences between the Movie one and the series on are that, firstly, the Morpher is upside down so that the button is at the top. Second the holster is completely different and the Morpher wasn't actually taken out of the holster when they morphed. Third, instead of having the Power Ranger stickers and the black bolts, they used red circles with colour co-ordinated bolts. The holster is colour co-ordinated as well. Lastly, the chromed look was only ever seen in the Movie, none of the Bucklers or Morphers where chromed in the series.

so it sounds like your not a fan of the movie. if i could recreate the crome look with out using that shinny tape i would.

I like the movie, I'm just not too keen on the morphers used for it. The series ones look better.
The closest you could probably get to the chromed look without actually getting it chromed would be to use paint. Krylon Premium Metallic could possibly give a decent look, I'm not certain though as I can't get Krylon paints where I am.

are you serious they dont sell krylon paint in england? wow

if im going to to through the trouble to find a way to make it look that good i might as well spend the $200 and buy it already made like that. i like the show morphers but i think there is something about the chrome look. and they are heavier i'm not sure if i need any more wait around my wait on tob of the dino blaster and the green ranger dragon dagger as the prop dagger is much heavier than the toy.

I really dig that chrome look but went a different direction. I liked how the movie morphers looked and thought going with the plains stickers made them seem more real in a way. That's just me though. Here are mine.

as sweet as yours look, if i tried to go this way i would have a problem because i am doing the green ranger and they don't make the green bolts. but really nice collection. how long did it take you to collect them?

Sorry abut the late reply. I had a Comic-con all weekend. I thought they did make a green one. Oh well. Another idea is popping out one of the sticker sets then using the outline sticker as a way to mask off the area and paint it green?

It took me about 6 months. Hunting, trying not to pay over 70 or 80 for a morpher, which was hard to do. I have 3 left. One is gonna be the White Ranger morpher, the other probably the green. The 3rds insides don't work so well. I replaced the axis with a replacement piece from ebay butit's still pretty rough.

first of all i would love to attend a comic-con illinois is so boring. second i just got done painting it gold and goin with the black bolts. just got my labels from reprolabels.com for another project of mine and i so i love the zyuranger labels i think i will go with those.
