He already finished the ffg:

*no particular reason why some were red. he ran out of rubber so he used what's available but another color.

*shoulder & bicep. shoulder bells are already painted. testing the color. bicep already painted with base silver.

*arms

*chest, abs & brief

*chest armor secured via belt clip

*shoulder bells attached to chest piece via belt clip

*:lollooking at our pics

*:lol sleeping.

I'm sorry if I'm just sharing the pics first. i'll try to add more details after. i'm just busy with work. I hope you get an idea from this. :angel

Those close up pictures are actually really helpful already. You can really see how the pieces fit together. Looking forward to seeing more! (and hopefully finding some of this stuff in north america)

What material are you using? It looks comfy. Keep up the great work!

Re: DON ROBERT'S Iron Man mk VI - W.I.P (pic heavy)

we use rubber. :rolleyes

Yes, here we call that foamies, without questions that's what's in the pics. ;) I built a Batman Returns suit out of it awhile back. :)

I am amazed at what a skilled craftsman can do with rubber/foamies...

Great job!

Re: DON ROBERT'S Iron Man mk VI - W.I.P (pic heavy)

All I can think of is how comfortable that must be compared to Fiberglass or even vacced pieces... and imagine the action shots you could get...

What do you (or your friend) use to glue the "rubber" foamies together.
and what is used to hide the edges when you need to laminate many layers?

Show more closeup build picture of the suit

Re: DON ROBERT'S Iron Man mk VI - W.I.P (pic heavy)

Love the fact that the armor look very slim. Just like in the cartoon. Love it!

I was going to ask these exact same questions. After I finish (or maybe while I work on) my Mark III suit, I'd love to take a stab at making a Mark VI suit with this method, so I'd love to know as much as possible about the process.

Thanks for sharing such an awesome build! It looks fantastic.

Re: DON ROBERT'S Iron Man mk VI - W.I.P (pic heavy)

I am SO glad to see this kind of quality coming from Foamies. Amazing how versatile it is!

Also, what are you guys using to seal it before painting? I have a ton of Foamies from a Predator costume I never finished and would love to use this method for things like the neck and joints in between the armor.

Re: DON ROBERT'S Iron Man mk VI - W.I.P (pic heavy)

Do foamies come as thick as some of what was used? I think there's more than "foamies" being used. Well same general material but looks as if they have access to thicker and larger sheets than we have readily available to us here in North America. Can probably special order them I'm sure.

Either way, much like using pepuka, it is the skills of the builder that really stand out here.:thumbsup The

And I LOVE the tshirt!!! Where do we get one?!:love

You can seal foamies with clear plasti-dip, when I did my returns I used the black since tha Bat is black. :)

Kevin you can get large rolls of foamies as well as the thicker stuff at Michael's.

Hope you don't mind me posting a pic here, if you do I'll remove it. :cool

Re: DON ROBERT'S Iron Man mk VI - W.I.P (pic heavy)

Robert's making great progress with this!

I tought I read that he uses the foam rubber sheets that factories make the soles of slippers, flip-flops, etc. with.

I gotta get of my butt and try to find some so I can get to work with it!

Re: DON ROBERT'S Iron Man mk VI - W.I.P (pic heavy)

Definitely a nice alternative and it looks very comfortable:thumbsup
