Mjolnir replica

Hey Ladies and Gents. Been away for a while and wanted to get back into marvel props.
What is with all the eBay mjolnir replicas?
The resin ones... are they good for a decent replica?
I was looking for a mjolnir that won’t break my pocket
Any suggestions ?
Thanks in advance

They are pretty solid. I have a resin and a full metal and both are just fine as replicas. The resin one has a resin handle with a single leather strap. The metal one has a leather wrapped handle with the leather strap. Both off ebay.

The only difference I can gather from the more pricey replicas is the finishing of the cap of handle. The King Arts and other high dollar ones have a nicely finished handle so you don't see the screw that holds the strap in. The two I have both have a visible screws but it is not obviously visible for display and easily concealable.

Some pics to better explain myself:

Resin: (Generic replica with no listed manufacturer, 60 bucks. )
- Hammer: https://photos.app.goo.gl/RAB4Z8YHetug8cqY7
- Screw: https://photos.app.goo.gl/AiPfNyRCsJDqtWic9

Metal: (Cattoys, about 140 bucks before shipping)

I'm happy with the construction for the price. There are some areas of paint bleed here and there but nothing I can't overlook. It's nearly identical to the cattoys metal version, my suspicion is that it's probably a recast.

As far as weight, it's about 5 pounds. I can PM you the ebay link to the seller if you're interested in seeing more about the resin version. They ship out of Cali so it's not as bad as waiting for stuff from China.

Cattoys/Lager makes a much better resin version with a much higher level of details and better paint apps than this recast.

So you're steering him towards someone you suspect is a recaster?

Not pushing one way or another, there is a plethora of products available via ebay and other marketplaces and I don't know for sure if this is recast or not. Cattoys, Lager, ShowZ all of similar products in resin and metal. He asked about the resin replicas on ebay, as I own a Cattoys metal one and a generic resin I can provide comparison and he can make his own decision.

Personally, I prefer the metal version and if I were to steer anybody anywhere it would be to the Cattoys metal hammer.

How does the metal hold up? How solid is it? Heavy? Thanks again for the pics and info

This is incorrect.
The cat toys, ronan, lager and all metal versions you see around are undersized. They are about 15-20% smaller than 1:1 scale.

King Arts and EFX are the only 2 that are the correct size (apart from fan made ones)

Be careful you get what your after.
If the resin ones are near identical to cattoys then they too would be undersized.

Well that's good to know. Having not seen the other two in person nor am I the size of the massive human that is Mr. Hemsworth I could see how that could be misjudged. Thanks for that info.

That being said, those two are super hard to come by. I haven't seen a King Arts one for sale in ages.

True. They are rare. You can find them but takes some looking.

And I agree- it’s hard to see the scale in photos online etc etc.

I burned through several Hammers before I found one I was happy with.
Which I did a little vid on

If the size doesn’t bother you- the showz, lager and cat toys are nice hammers- the main two problems are the dull finish, they sound so hollow and the size.

It's weighty for sure. Gratifying to hold. The strap is a little stiffer but nothing that can't be softened. I prefer the color of the striations in the actual metal vs the resin as well, there's also less imperfections as nothing on it is mocked up with paint, it's mostly metal and leather.

That's a great video, thanks for the link. I love the stitching on the strap.

As an update to this thread, I did manage to get my hands on a pedestal version of the King Arts hammer. It is impressive in it's scale. Noticeable size difference.

I am a bit disappointed that they used 2 screw holes to affix it to the pedestal though, I'm wondering if there's a wall mounted King Arts version I'd be able to find without the holes, as I'm sure I won't have any chance of finding the EFX version.

But now having seen 3 different versions I'd definitely go cattoys for price/quality if not the King Arts for scale/quality. The resin ones just don't compare to either of those two.

The pedestal versions comes with a extra cap so you can remove the cap with the screw holes and replace it with the cap that has no holes.... look through your packaging- it must be there

honestly I don't find any of the 3rd party replicas any good...I ordered one once and it was complete garbage...it's a can of worms and although they state 1:1 scale but none of them truly are true 1:1 scale, the hammer heads are too small and the handles short...

your best rest bet is get onto etsy for 3D printed hammer kits you can put together or have made fully for you, or go with the Hasbro legends Mjolnir the legends replica is true 1:1 scale made from the molds of the movie props, I have one and it looks great...it's got a good weight to it and the electronic effects are great too, the leather looks real enough as well...my only gripe with it is that it's clearly not chromed like the film prop, the head gets away with it by the metal strips on the handle look abit plastic like...

Im considering buying another one to paint and convert to look more metal like, like the version in Ragnarok...

Best thing as well it isn't bank breaking...I picked up mine for £79 by ordering from the US...it's like $99-$139 or something over the pond...

for or me it's easily the best and cheapest on the market...

If your suggesting a plastic toy can compare to a metal replica... Im not sure id agree.

dude that's a little harsh...I wouldn't call the legends mjolnir a toy! Lol it's intended for cosplay...I also have the Cap Shield which is awesome...

i agree the metal replica you showed looks awesome but what's it scale? Is it true 1:1 scale? Also you're missing the point of this thread he was asking for a replica that doesn't break the bank...for me it's all about the purpose I'd never take a $300-$500 replica to a convention...

also so I could easily take the legends mjolnir and make it look like this metal version for a fraction of the cost...
