Mission: Impossible Fallout Ethan Hunt Costume Thread

So I’ve been doing a lot of research into these costumes as well, thanks to your thread! Great work! The bomber jacket might have been made specifically for the film. The double zip and the cylindrical zips could confirm this fact. Also the lack of a cinch. Almost none of the bomber jackets I’ve seen are made that way, except for this one. I ordered one from a more than likely fraudulent “replica” site and when it arrived today, the blue seemed a bit off and the material was not accurate. It was 100% cotton. The actual jacket, is definitely either polyester or nylon. Or a blend of the two. With a light weight cotton inner lining. As far as the boots from the helicopter scene, they were custom made for the film. A brand called Palladium makes a very similar type of boot. I will most likely be returning the bomber or selling it. I haven’t decided yet.

Definitely looks close, but I don’t think that’s it. Here’s an image I found a few weeks ago:

And the jacket you posted:

Great find, but unfortunately, sold out.

That is a great find! I wish I could nail down the exact color. In that set pic it looks like a blu-ish gray and in other paparazzi set photos it’s much more clear that it’s blue. In the movie, it looks so dark that it’s black sometimes like in the beginning by the plane. The things you mentioned in the past about the cinch and the zippers makes it very unique and a hard style/design to find, unfortunately.

Checked the Brunello catalogs from around the time of production, and I couldn’t find an exact match. Anyone have any other ideas?

I think it’s a Brunello cucinelli piece , if you search Ryan Reynolds Rome promoting Deadpool 2 I think he’s wearing something nearly identical. Brunello stuff is very expensive but most details match up.
It’s very close. But in different images, like I mentioned before, even that jacket looks different in color as well.

I’m not on SM much (besides myspace and IG sometimes), but do you guys really think the director/CD would reply to one of our questions?
I know there’s some guys related to the production on Filmjackets.com searching for it, but no one has heard from them since October.

I read that forum post too. Perhaps it’s time for one of them to reach out again. Who knows, though. Perhaps McQuarrie would respond. Even send an e-mail or a letter.

ryan reynolds blue bomber jacket - Google Search
Look at these images, it changes color quite a bit. Double zip etc, I think asking Kirkland would be best bet.
Okay, looking at these exact images, I’m a little more convinced than before. It’s very possible that even if it’s not the same jacket, it’s possible it was inspiration for the one in the film.

If Kurland is on twitter or ig I’d ask on there. I know Hugh Dillon answered questions about solos pants on there when asked and a lot of 007 costume designers will answer also.
The motorcycle boots look like 1000 mile wolverine, and the trucker jacket may be a diesel as they occasionally use that button pattern with the two closet to the waist spaced closely

Kurland isn’t on any social media sites. Trust me I looked. Also, contacting him is also tough. McQuarrie is a bit more accessible. I think you’re right on the motorcycle boots. Hunt is wearing the same boots in every scene he’s wearing jeans in, except in Kashmir. Which shows some nice consistency in the film itself. The trucker jacket brand looks right, as far as the button placement goes. I just can’t seem to find the exact model or wether it’s black or gray.

Jitterbug Boy claims to have produced both the boots seen in the film.
Does anyone have any idea about the t shirt he wears underneath?

On the Jitterbug Boy website, it only shows that they made the Kashmir boot. Where did you see that they made the other one as well? I think the T-shirts might be J-Crew. At least the couple I bought in the bluish-gray he wears with the trucker jacket. I’m not sure about the black T-shirt. It’s like a really dark gray-black color.
