Mint Graflex sells for $760.00 on Ebay!!!

I've seen plenty MPP's up for auction mostly in the UK ... pricec varied from £181 (mine) to quite a lot more gold-pressed latinum ... however I've rarely seen the correct 1 step shroud attached :wacko

The seller wrote me back. He thinks someone pulled a fast one when they sold it to him. The pins appear like they may be original. Someone could have swapped the Bakelite guts and pins, or just the pins. Either way, he has changed the auction. I feel bad for him. At least he has the good Parks' version Graflex in hand!

I'm aghast, I've always had a problem with the demand mark-up on the junk we collect. Neither of my graflexes cost me more than 50 bucks...

Also, it IS within the guidelines to post live auctions regarding their authenticity. If they're scams, etc. I'm glad he did.

That's my fear Tom, now I'm afraid to bid on a graflex with out you guys approval. I don't know enough about the differences, though I have that thread bookmarked encase I do find one I want. I plan on trying to find camera swap meets near me to try and find one... I am having a hard enough time spending 300 on one let alone 760....

The pins do have the correct shape, but they're in mint condition, having a bright yellow appearance as opposed to a dark reddish yellow. IMO, that's just as much of a giveaway as the rest.

If we see vaders saber in TFA I can only imagine the MPP's price jump...
Having the Graflex back is already pushing it, but I understand why they did it. I mean, it embodies the Skywalker legacy. Besides, the prop team would have a pain in the ass time finding an original MPP to convert. But hey, maybe the Graflex they used in TFA is actually a replica instead of an original. :lol

That is true, but he had told me previously that he personally cleaned them at some point. He had gone through a lot to make it nice and clean. That was one reason I believe he did not know it was a replica.

Good call.

Did this person know even before the release of the second trailer?

I believe the member was approached by a subcontractor to locate several items for the production team that would make Episode 7, and those items were acquired. I believe it was several Graflexes and an MPP if not other things as well. I have no data that implies any other items were sought either.

Yeah that replica... There's so much of that going on ebay. I've emailed quite a few of those dudes to call them out. I always point them to my thread and educate them.

Most SEEM to be genuinely surprised... but some react like they got caught.

This guy was very humble. I don't doubt that he was genuine. He seemed surprised and a bit burnt about bein burned so long ago. A really long slow burn it ended up being. I told him it's not like it's a piece of garbage now. I told him it is part of a bygone era for the Parks Graflex. That this version is done, and this is the one people will want, as there are changes with the new one. For a collector, this version Parks Graflex is an important part of the whole saber replica story. It seems that way to me anyway.

I think he mentioned you, not by name, scottjua.

MPP?? What place is there for an MPP saber?

MPP?? How can Vader's saber possibly make a return? It was destroyed.

They brought back Luke's saber, just 'cause. They brought back Vader's helmet, just 'cause. They brought back Stormtroopers and Tie Fighters, just 'cause. They brought back Star Destroyers and the Empire, just 'cause.

They'll bring it all back just 'cause.
