This will be like the third time they've tried to bring the show over here. The last one didn't make it past a single pilot, and I don't expect this one to do any better. I'll just stick with the original, thanks.
I think they have tried it with just about anything that was remotely popular on the BBC.
I can think of off hand-
Red Dwarf(that wasn't as bad as others)
Dr Who(I didn't like it, but now that I look back it some things in common with the new Who).
Coupling(They did the very same scripts, someone from UK the could pull of. But American actors would only kill their carers. It was amongst some the worst stuff I have ever seen).
These was an endless stream of game shows, and the ever lame reality shows.
But a US Top Gear, I'm very glad I no longer have to endure satellite.
Shouldn't all of the hosts on that show be fat?
It's going to come off flat, quite frankly a better version of US Top Gear would have hosts such as, Brock Yates, Hal Needham, Burt Reynolds, Dom Deluise(you can't get him to easily), etc. I'm sure we could come up with more funny car guys. I can't stand these shows where they put on some people say they are experts(no they are actors on a TV show). That nobody has ever heard of nor care. Put them in a rebooted, rehashed TV show and tell us how much we all going to love it.
When the reality is like taking a Bugatti Veyron to it's top gear, and stopping it on/in a very very thick brick wall.
I'm so glad I don't work in the entertainment industry.
I would be fired for being the one voice in the room saying, "What idiot thought this was a good idea."
