Mini Falcon in asteroid field

Some pics of my current project. Kit is a Bandai mini, asteroids are Eva foam clay. I went with red brown for contrast but don’t know now.

Looks great! I do think the asteroids could use a couple washes to give them some more depth... The color is fine... But washes will make them look more convincing.

I'd use oil washes if you have them. Or can make them.

Thanks! I can’t wait to do washes on this clay to see how it looks (building a couple alien dudes with it also), I will post some more pics once I get further along. I’m actually building 2 side by side one for my cousin and one for a guy who comes into my shop who’s always buying stuff I make.

Awesome!

This is a brilliant idea, and I agree about the washes--that will make the asteroids look less like potatoes (which one of the asteroids actually was in Empire I believe)...

I heard that if you carve asteroids (or even rocks, for that matter) out of foam and then flick acetone on it randomly, that it will create pits and melted spots, and give it a sort of random-looking texture. If you're interested in going down that route. I think even just spraying the foam with a rattle can will also give it that pitted look.

Ha! I got a buddy who points that out every time he watches it!! Hopefully these turn out because I want to do the same with my legacey falcon or one of the MPCs I have for a Star Wars deal on may the 4th

I’ll have to try that!

ESB, right when Han dives "closer to the bigger ones", one of the incoming from left side is actually a painted sportshoe. Still hard do notice, due heavily paint job

Well, sat down today and wrapped these up. Any oil paint I had to make washes with is Mia, and I was to lazy to drive a half hour to the hobby shop. I ended up using Tamiya weathering kit and some panel liner, then flat coated. I’m digging these things. I like Eva foam clay also!
