Millennium Falcon Revell SnapTite Kit

I wanted to practice painting up a Falcon for a bigger project coming up and I decided to get one of these, as the price was right...

Anyhow, here are my results. I'd love feedback!

I built it straight out of the package, though, in retrospect, I wish I would have made a few corrections here and there. But, oh well. I'm putting more effort into the bigger model.

Hey, thanks for looking!

It's one of these:

I bought a few of them for playing around with different conversion ideas, and I haven't opened this one yet. I've never purchased the Pocket Model kit, but, having seen pics of it on line... I'm pretty confident it's the same kit, just without sprues. It's not quite 4 3/8 inches long.

I just bought this newer version as well, and the store had both of them (the older with sprues and tinfoil wrapping and this one).

As it's often the case, it's simply a scaled down version of the regular Easy Kit Falcon, but for some reason I like it better than the big one (that I built and sold a while ago).

With that being said, your repaint is breathtaking. I really love the colors and subtle weathering. My skills are nowhere near as good so i'll guess i'll just do a black wash and light weathering, but i'll certainly look at yours for inspiration!

Now if only I could find the Star Destroyer in stores!

The problem with the new blister packs is that parts are sometimes damaged when they are ripped from the sprue in the factory. My Falcon had damage to the engine area which wasn't visible until I opened the pack.

Although it is a scaled down version of the big Easy Kit Falcon, for some reason, the cockpit on the pocket Falcon seems to stick out too far from the side of the ship. But it's still a nice little model, whether you decide to modify it or not.

Yeah, I noticed that. Both the long cockpit access tube and the sloppy sprue removal. But the damage was easy to repair, at least on mine. The things that bug me the most are the really wide and shallow mandible access holes and the weird looking guns. The high walls and the too tapered docking rings also bug me, but not as much for some reason.

The strange thing about the mandible access holes is that the ones underneath are much better than the ones on top.
The height of the side-wall pieces is actually about right: it's just the edges of the hulls that are too thick, and this makes the overall height too great. I ground mine down with a rotary tool and it's looking much better now.
This little kit has got me back into real modeling after years of only doing CG.

If you haven't seen it yet, this build is truly inspirational:
