Yea, 3D printing technology is really coming along. There's no question that having original styrene or resin casts are the the best, but seeing Joshua's earlier results really made me realise that the digital alternatives are almost as good, given sufficient attention to detail when modelling the parts.
I do love me a studio scale build of the Falcon!
And going down an identical path, I have been modeling many of the kit parts from this parts tree. The objects I created are grey in the image.
One idea: a Snap-Ship approach where you have two or more blank disks-with different cut-outs and surface details with magnets to have different Falcons-freighters.
I started documenting the infamous SeaLab III kit (Thanks for the donor loner, Andre!). More than just Falcon bits; I hope to make most of it just to have since it's used so frequently around here and who know when I might use them for some other build...
