Military - Radio Chatter - sound effect?

I would like to be able to simulate Vietnam era radio chatter.

I am trying to recreate a PRC-77 radio for my Jeep after finding an old handset in an old toy bin. I have a hard drive that I can upload a file to and play.

I will search for sound clips but I assume most will be too short to sell the illusion.

(edit: the reason I am asking here is because the first website I found to download sound effects was a malicious attack site. Oh the irony...)

I was searching for Radio Chatter and found your post. A re-encatment group need some radio chatter. I'm retired commo so they asked me to set this up.

What is the An PRC-77 app you have on the radio?
What is your mic connect to?
I'm also in the process if connecting my handset to my CB as soon as I can find a male connector.

Sorry QMQ,
The screen is just an uploaded picture and the mic is plugged into the cigarette lighter.
The idea was to simulate sounds of radio chatter.
Sorry to get your hopes up.
Do post an update if you make progress on any of this.

If you search youtube for "generation kill radio" each episode ends with military radio traffic that you should be able to record and use.

Is this going to be a running gag or do you have a specific prank in mind?

Either way, I can imagine this is going to be one of the funnest things in the world!!!!! Plus it involves a Jeep.

There is a great piece of freeware called Audacity that will let you create your own clips. Old style radio sounds tend to be clipped (creates harmonic distortion) and have very limited frequencies (due to limits of mics and speakers used). With Audacity you can start with a clean voice track, then experiment with the distortions that ware going to work best. If you want to layer in background effects (gun shots, explosions, etc.) that is all very easy to do (just layer in and balance the voice and FX before doing the distortion)
