Mick Foley Mankind mask

Hey Darren those aren't my pics, I'm starting work on mine tonight. That progress pic is of the actual mask. I'll have to measure my leather and see how thick it is.

I wouldn't think it would need to be very thick since its wrapped over. Are you going to mink oil it?

What does mink oil do?

I'm sure now that it's thinner leather, I just finished my first one and it's ok but defineatly to thick.

Mink oil adds a shine, and waterproofs it. Makes the dye in the leather darken.

I would like to soften the leather a little bit but I dont want to darken the leather any, is already a pretty nice color. If it gets any darker it will look black.

There are some black spots on the mask but I think its dirt. Leather oil might be good, same thing they put on baseball gloves.

Yeah it's darker in some areas, probably from years of sweat or blood. Is there anything that will soften it without making it darker.

There is a product called mothers leather conditioner, but I am not sure where to get it.

Thats perfect I start a part time job at an Advance Auto next week so I should be able to get a discount on the Mothers Leather Conditioner. Now I really need to figure out this chin cup attachment. I have emailed the creater and the new owner of the mask to ask for some info. We'll have to see how that goes.

You might be able to cut a piece slightly bigger and boil it. Then push it over a shape similar to your chin to form it. It will shrink when you boil it, just 5 seconds is all you need.

I'm bumping this up because I'm back at it again. I'm really not much of a leather worker so I'm looking for people to point me in the right direction or who know how to do this type of mask work.

Thanks
Tyler
