Metroid Samus Suit Build WIP Thread

Samus in a month, that's a pretty tight schedule! I started a Samus suit too, but I've been distracted by other projects, all I have so far is the helmet, yours looks pretty cool so far. What are you making the armor out of? I will probably do mine out of foam, I've seen some great Samus foam suits. Good luck, can't wait to see your progress.

This is where I stand. I have built the helmet on a basketball using aluminum foil, cardboard and cardstock with my own templatesthen boneo,
I made the chest with a base of cardstock and fiberglass, then put pizza boxes on top and then layered the extra pieces using a separate pizza box for the raised bits.
THe shoulder is a giant $2 ball from wal mart with plaster strips over it, plastic coated then Bondo work.
The gun is made with cardboard pizza boxes wrapped over a Bondo can for the round shape and then layered pieces over that.
The arm and hand are plaster casts of my hand and forearm with nsp clay over it that I will silicone and cast in plastic.
The foot is plaster cast of my foot with cardboard on it and the shin, as you can see, is made up of a coke and sprite box that I trimmed how I wanted it.
My fiancé will more than likely be the one wearing it. This is my favorite game ever, but she is a 6' tall woman with blonde hair, so I feel it fits.
And I want this done within the month because I do this full time now and I need some things to sell to bring in money as well as get it ready to make a short film with it. We are also running our own vendor booth at an upcoming con and I would like to have several more pieces to display/sell. My end goal is to make my own films, that is what my degree is in and this is just a very interesting path that allows me that freedom of getting a backing, making my own sets and props for cheap and being able to make awesome action/ sci fi things that would hold true to the story writing and special effects of the 80's using today's technology.

A Samus suit in a month?! That's a pretty hardcore deadline you're putting on yourself. But, hey, where there's a will there's a way right? My wife has said that she would like for me to make her a Samus suit, and my response to her is "Sweet, that would be awesome!!!" and "That's gonna take some major time to finish." Yours looks great so far. Can't wait to see more

So it's been much too long since I have been on here. Life and bills got in the way of this project, as we all know too well. I finally got some time in the last two days to get back to work and this is where my helmet stands now. I plan on having it done by the end of the week, and in order to help fund the rest of my suit I am going to be doing a limited run of this, raw cast or finished. Anyone interested, feel free to message me. I will post in the Junkyard once it is complete. I want for the majority of the suit to be casted to get that smooth, casted look and to cut WAY down on weight.
And any advice would be totally helpful. This is my second build done entirely with no peps, and it is kinda difficult but I really like that it is my own original, even if it DOES make me pull my hair out getting the angles and measurements down perfectly. I also want to thank everyone who has ever posted to the RPF with advice, I am completely 'self' taught using all of the RPF's community forums and pointers. It was by using original peps by various forum members that gave me the training, practice, and eye for scrutiny that has brought me to this point. A little over a year from my first successful pull and I am now working from scratch with insane projects, and the smell of bondo and sweat makes me happy every day, and for that I thank every member of the RPF and your support.

Helmet is just a few short hours from completion and this is where she stands. I am going to Omni Expo in Orlando on May 24th and I am aiming to be done by then, fingers crossed. If not, it will be shortly after, I will also be doing a run of these helmets when they are finished. I also plan on modifying a cast of these for Dark Samus if anyone would be interested. The shoulders are very close as well, will be posting their photos in the next day or so. 12 hour shift today to round out a fifty hour week at work, first day off means back to Bondo

Thanks man. These are the photos of the completed project pre-silicone. It is currently in silicone and will be casted in the next two days, and I already have the polycarbonate for the visor and the tubing for the respirator.
I'm also going to be doing a run of raw casts if anyone is interested. This has been a long time coming and I am very happy with the outcome.
