Metro 2033 PC game FREE

This is great. The game is freaking awesome, it's like a way more hardcore version of Fallout 3 / Vegas. I've heard nothing but great things about the upcoming sequel as well!

Thanks for sharing!

Not exactly. It's a shooter, not an RPG, and it's a lot more closed-world than Fallout. You can't just go wander and explore.

That said, it's an incredibly rich environment, and a really interesting change of pace for western gamers. As a shooter it's absolutely solid. I got it as part of the Humble Bundle, which is a steal, but for free is even better.

It's well worth one's time, although some of the achievements on Steam seem pretty hard to get.

You're absolutely right, I was more referring to the environment and feel of the game, not so much the mechanics.

I was eyeballing this for the xbox as i don't have facebook. I also want to get the novel now that the first one is over here in english.

I really wanted to like the game, but I just couldn't get into it. One nice thing it has going for it (aside from the wonderfully bleak setting), is how well the amount of pressure they maintain, with each action encounter being just as frantic and desperate as the last.

It's got a fairly unique flavor to it that isn't necessarily for everyone. I also think some of the issue is with the VO work. I almost would've preferred original Russian dialogue with subtitles! But then, that'd depend on getting good Russian VO artists.

I've noticed that the Russian games I've played are all good, but just have something very...different...about them. Space Rangers was another example of this.

That's partly why I love the Stalker games. I think the Metro guys worked on it too, not sure. They feel like they are in a totally different environment so that ads to the feel of the game. I still haven't started Metro, I'm addicted to Battlefield 3... :lol
