I used 5-minute epoxy for the assembly.

I also soaked these in caustic soda bath for about 20 minutes before assembly, then buffed and polished them to give it a worn smooth sort of look

yeah, airbrushed with Tamiya flat black then when about half dry I rubbed it with crumpled newspaper

How does the tamiya paint hold up on the metal? I was planning to use a primer on my run as paint usually doesn’t like metal.

if you're wanting to paint it with the intent that it sticks around long term even when frequently handled then yeah id prime it first, but for something like this that I intend to display mainly and occasionally pick up I was fine without the primer. I also don't live in a high humidity environment, it may not last as long or adhere as well if you do
