I ran across these in the gift shop of a museum recently and they captured my attention; I think their gorgeous.

Build times vary based on the model and your experience, this TOS Klingon Vor'cha ship took me about 4 hours to assemble.

Has anyone constructed one?

Re: Metal Earth Sculptures

I've done a fair number so far. They are quite fun. They sell a 3 piece tool kit of nipers and 2 styles of plyers that I recomend for the more complicated kits. It came in very handy for the new transformers figures.

So far I've done ...

(Star Trek) Enterprise NCC1701-D
(Mass Effect) Normandy
(Transformers) Optimus Prime
(Transformers) Soundwave
(Star Wars) Milleniom Falcon

All turned out pretty well if not quite as perfect as I would like. Anything with curves starts to get a bit tricky. Here is a link to the full line. They are slowly expanding their licences and already licensed products.

I've been tempted to pick up a couple of them. But so far I've been able to resist.

You should give it a shot -they're fairly inexpensive.

Finished up another one -TOS Bird-of-Prey. A bit more difficult than the first one but I really like how it came out.

For your viewing pleasure, a time-lapse video of the Bird-of-Prey build.

I spent a few hours on a Metal Earth Star Trek TOS Enterprise. Based on the relatively short instructions I thought this would be easy -bad assumption. The curved pieces (hull and warp nacelles) need to be rolled into clean curves which is more of a challenge than you would think.

That said, I'm pretty pleased with the end result.
