Hello all,

I was just messing around with some cheap, store bought clown make-up, and came up with this:

If anyone has make-up application tips, they would be greatly apprecitated. Thank you again. I makes me want to do a full Joker costume now....

For normal make-up I could give all kinds of tips, for the TDK joker... my only tip would be to try scrunching up your face during application to get some laugh lines and that wrinkled look Ledger had to his make-up. You could even try pouring water on your face after application while scrunching like was done in for the movie. That's pretty much all I've got.

Use a spray bottle to water the face down. Not so heavy on the lips. I wear Darth Maul makeup and while I apply it I keep several photos of that character to insure I stay true to the makeup. I plan to do this costume as well and am deciding on what kind I should use though the only color I don't already have is the white. I MAY just use clown white for this. They do make white especially for clowns I think it's more reslient though I wouldn't don it as heavy as I've seen others do. I'd go a tad heaver on the white but not so much so the creases fill in as darthgordon mentioned.

That's a pretty good job for just messing around though. It's always a good idea to try a makeup before an event in case one has any allergic skin reactions. Sucks real bad if you try makeup for the very first time and it irritates the skin while you are at an event.

Here's a tip I give to Maul wearers and it may help here too. Wash your face the day before and use an astringent to clean out the pores. This gives the skin time to oil up naturally. If you wash your face the day OF your face will get really geasy and the makeup wont bond as well. After getting the makeup how you want it, use a sealer though for the Joker I wouldn't do this as the natural breakdown will only improve the look IMHO. I'm no professional but have worn costume makeup for quite a few years now and alot of trial and error on the way. Feel free to PM with any questions.

Thank you to both DarthGordon, and Bleyd. This information will help, now that I've decided that I will do this costume!

You're right in saying that I could go heavier on the white, as it does look a bit light.

Thank you two again for the tips.
