Wow, Discovery. Seriously, why would you play this garbage on TV?

I thought Discovery was a science channel...but this is completely fake (though I haven't seen it stated once on this show).

From the Animal Planet website:

Editor's Note: This two-hour special is science fiction based on some real events and scientific theory.

Animal Planet’s Mermaids: the Body Found Paints a Wildly Convincing Picture of the Existence of Mermaids, What They May Look Like and Why They’ve Stayed Hidden…Until Now

Two-hour CGI Special Unravels Mysterious Underwater Sound Recordings, Dives Deep into the Aquatic Ape Theory and Questions if Mermaids are Related to People

I took it in the spirit they intended and enjoyed. Cheeky fun.

I never took it seriously for a second. They said everyone in it was a actor.

Hell, even had me thinking about making some mermaid, fish spears for a second.

I only caught it part way through, so when I was watching I didn't realize they were posting it as fiction. The whole time I was scratching my head if they were wanting to be taken serious or what. At first I thought it was supposed to be actor portrait of what was said to be real events. I took it about as serious as the Bigfoot and alien shows.

It was pretty well done, except for their "stock footage".

A few years ago, I saw one of those fauxcumentaries (on Discovery, I think) about dragons; narrated by Patrick Stewart.

I really liked it. It was VERY well done.

I think the biggest give-away was the video footage shot 1.2 million years ago. :lol

The footage on the phone looked horrible. Scifi channel monsters looked better than that cgi mermaid.

Man, it was so bad. yet I couldn't shut it off. I kept saying to myself, this is the stupidest thing ever, but I kept watching.

The CGI was horrible. It's like they didn't even try to blend the CGI with the stock footage.

It made me sad, because the " bloop" is a legitimate phenomena that can't be explained....and isn't mermaids lol
