MCU Spider-Man Fitness progress / HELP!

Hello!
Earlier this year I realized I had gained a ton of weight after a loss in my family a couple of years back and decided to finally do something about it. For motivation I decided I was going to invest in a Spider-Man costume for Halloween/future cons and be fit enough for it once that time comes. I would later decide that I wanted to do the MCU version of spider man.

I stuck to a healthy diet and tried numerous Team Beachbody exercises (because gyms are stupid). I started at 208 lbs and am currently 176 for a loss of 32 lbs! I had some rough weeks here and there where I stopped working out and ate crappy/delicious food, but I always managed to get back in to it. My problem now is that I'm still about 11 lbs away from my goal weight and Halloween in a month and a half away! I'm 5' 10", 176 lbs, eating about 1800 calories a day, and currently doing the Insanity Max 30 workout program. I guess I was just curious if anyone here who lost weight for a costume managed to lose around 10 lbs in 6 weeks healthily or if I should just put off ordering the costume all together. Also any tips on getting into spider-man shape from fellow cosplayers would be awesome! is 165 a good Spider-Man weight or should I shoot to lose a bit more? Thanks!

EDIT: Also the reason I haven't lost more weight is mainly because I did a lot of muscle gaining for about a month. Now that I'm focusing strictly on cardio and fat burning I imagine 11 lbs in 6 weeks should be doable?

Forget about weight, it is unimportant. Focus, instead, on body composition. Take measurements instead of weighing yourself for results that really matter. Peak, healthy body fat is around 10-12%. You won't be super chiseled, but you will have abs. You won't hit that in a month, but you can lose a lot of body fat in a short time if you really dial in your diet. Higher protein and less carbs, try to stick with lean proteins like fish and chicken and get most of your carbs from green vegetables, the darker the better. Stay away from white, stick with brown rice and, if you must have bread, make it wheat.

Weight lifting actually burns more calories than cardio, though you still wanna do cardio, plus it has the added benefit of the"afterburn". That is where your body burns more calories throughout the day as your muscles repair themselves. Forty-five minutes of strength training and twenty minutes of cardio a day is a pretty solid mix, but everybody is different so adjust for your personal needs.

You won't get a "six-pack" in a month, but you can get some impressive results if you try. I wish you the best of luck, my friend.

Hey there Xroninx I'm sorry for your loss but mad props on losing the weight!!! For me it took two years and I dropped down from 220 to 180 I didn't really notice I got big until I was in a makeshift manga spiderman costume I made for a library event, I got my picture taken and I was like oh crap I gotta really take exercising seriously. I absolutely HATE the gym but once I started going I noticed a lot of muscle mass and my body was burning the fat that I had retained for a few years. I think it's not really weight loss that you need it's more toning than anything else. from the picture you posted it's starting to look like you're getting into the right shape you just need to get through your plateau and I think you can do it before Halloween. I GOTS FAITH.

For me what I did was 30 to an hour of cardio then lifted weights. If I couldn't do 30 to an hour of cardio I would a mile on the treadmill each day. I DESPISE cardio but what I learned was that I had to do the things I really hated to do. I was doing the beach body exercises before I started going to the gym but I wasn't seeing any results. I use to play basketball a lot so I needed to do stuff that my body wasn't used to. I did the original insanity and only lost a little weight because my body was use to that sort of jumping around and what not because of basketball So...I had to run and it sucked but I started to lose weight and seeing improvement right away. Also, I haven't had any extra time this year but I have been trying to walk an hour a day. In a hour I can do 6 miles of walking which is 12,000 steps so if you hate cardio as much as I do this might be a good option. I was amazed what a hour of walking can do to keep you in shape.

If you are sticking to a healthy diet that's half the battle AND it's the hardest part. This was my biggest problem. I also didn't drink enough water. When I started going to the gym I started counting my calorie intake and drinking plenty of water. Ideally you should be drinking half of your body weight in water. So for me I weight 190 so I gotta drink 85 oz. of water a day. But you also can't drink all that at once or you'll retain the water and you won't see any result. So I would recommend drinking water throughout the day and changing things up with your workout. That might help you burn up those last few pounds and get you spidey fit. Speaking of Spider-Fit there is a guy on youtube with the name SpideyFit you might want to check out. There's also a couple threads here on the RPF that will help you make up a regiment to get fit.
Best of luck to you!!!!

Huge thanks to the both of you for the tips! I'm honestly not looking for a chiseled six pack but I'm also not looking to bring a keg to the party, ya know? I'll add weight lifting to the workout and post my results here! Thanks again!

As has been said - focusing on weight is counterproductive. Focus on fitness, eating healthily, with a good combination of cardio and lifting. High weight builds bulk lots of reps at lower weight builds stamina and tone, and cardio as the name implies - is good for the heart and lungs...

As for the costume - put it one and look at where you need to focus... if you've already lost a bunch - you may be closer to you personal acceptable body "condition" then you think. My advice - don't give up on the costume... if its a motivating force keep to it. If you miss Halloween - you'll be killing it by this time next year :). plus the summer beach body will be yours by spring... ALWAYS a good thing.

You guys are right, I shouldn't focus on my actual weight. Right now I'm doing Insanity max 30 and it has already lowered my body fat by 2% after 3 weeks. I plan on finishing the last 6 weeks while also adding on 20 minutes of weight training per day. Hopefully this is enough to reach a frame I'd feel comfortable with by Oct 30th. Lycra is seriously too revealing. But more motivation to hammer my mid section I guess!

Also thanks Dsyder08 for the water tip. I was actually drinking most of my water in the morning while at work and the rest in the evening.

U start to see your abs at a body fat like 14% and less. i now know that cardio is not all, also gym and lifting weigths is not all, you have to do both!
Good luck !

Gotcha! Yeah my body fat is at 16.5% right now. A little frustrating but sticking with it! Hopefully see a drop in 2 or 3 more weeks.

Hey man, I've got a really good idea for you. I have always been skinny but recently I have been working on using BODYWEIGHT exercises, instead of weights. PM me if you want to use some of the workout plans that I have used. I'm pretty sure that I have some pics, but I'll get those here later.
