McQuarrie Probe Droid concept model

I have always thought this probe droid painting by Ralph McQuarrie my favorite. The main body I made from something I got from the hardware store. After a few changes I made a mold and cast a resin master. The other parts including the head are Plastruct domes. The legs are made to be articulated. And I made all the tube things that hang off the bottom. All the kit parts are from Empire used kits of which more detailing will be done.

Neat! I always love people doing models from concept art! I have one in mind, but I'm not mentioning it because I've never seen anyone do it yet!

Here is an update. I went wild on the underside. I have all these kits might as well get some use out of them. I was inspired by the Slave-1 in that the body has little kitbashing detail but the underside is loaded.

I have been getting a lot of "LIKES"on this project thanks to you all. Here it is all completed. After a primer coat of Tamiya fine grey it was painted using the Archive X acrylic line. I got these not to long ago so this is the first project I have used them on and I love them. The base coat was Engine Black followed by a misting of SP Lark Dark Grey then Dark Reefer Grey finally a misting of Weathered Black which gives it a slight brownish tone to the paint job. I also misted in a little Earth in the mid section and did a little chipping in a few places. The eyes were painted separately with several coats if a gloss black and put in after the painting was done. Thanks
