Mayfair Witches

Another adaptation they're going to screw up, LOL. A favorite book series for me, but like the Dark Tower, they have to mess with the characters. I do like the actress playing Rowan, but they're doing some crappy things with two major characters from the books. No spoilers, you'll have to see for yourself. So disappointing !

I haven't started this one yet, but AMC did a great job with Interview with the Vampire. I'll get around to this one eventually.

I haven't seen this show because I don't have the AMC service. From what I've been reading online, the show doesn't seem that great to me. That's a shame because The Witching Hour is probably in my top 5 best books list. The character of Michael has been removed. Aaron Lightner has been replaced with another character that has Michael's powers. I think the love story between Michael/Rowan was essential to the books. I don't know why he would be removed from the story.

Hmmmm....
It doesn't look very compelling, and after what they did to Interview, I'm disinclined to take a risk on this one.

As a massive fan of Anne Rice, I'll give this a try... but I am not pleased with what they did to the Interview story for that series, so I have low expectations for this storyline. It was a masterful story, no reason to change it. I would love to have a conversation with the studio monkey that thinks they know how to write a more compelling story than Anne freaking Rice and can improve on her work.

It would be really hard for a TV show or movies to capture the feel of those books. The way the houses and New Orleans is described. You feel like you're actually there. You can almost smell the magnolias and honeysuckle. It's a shame that Anne didn't insist on more control over the material and how it's used. Guess she just wanted the check and none of the headaches. If I was able to write anything like that, Hollyweird would never be able to buy the rights. Not even after I was dead. They would have to wait for it to go into public domain. What's that like 90 to 100 years, lol. My stuff would be in an iron clad trust. I'll never have that problem, as I couldn't write a novel to save my life.

Public domain is as long as the Disney family says it is. Each time Disney content gets close to the current legal protection time threshold, whichever current sitting POTUS extends it again. As compared to patents that are like 7 years or something ridiculously short. Your book would be protected nearly infinitely.

Yes I was talking about Anne Rices book, not Disney.

Same rules apply. It is just the time period as a collective for written works and possibly a different one for art but each time Disney specifically reaches that limit, the law gets changed. My apologies, I had been responding to the comment about holding something until it hit public domain. Did not mean to sidetrack the thread.

Hey no worries, it happens to me all the time, lol.
