Mayberry Sheriffs patch types.

Can anyone shed some light on the two different types of patch from the show? I have the left hand one and I believe that was the style used in the early, black and white, seasons.

Now here's where I have to admit I'm a bit of a purest and can't watch the later seasons filmed in colour. Some things are better in black and white. Was the more detailed patch used in the colour seasons?

Yes, but not sure when they switched. I never liked the later seasons either. The writing got weak and they depended too much on the silly recurring characters.

The one on the left is a pretty close color episodes patch. The one on the right is wrong in so many ways. I found this one on Ebay...

It's somewhere between the black & white episodes and color episodes. I have been considering producing an accurate B&W version for a long time. I just want to get the art right.

I have been attending the MAYBERRY DAYS festival for the last 3 years in Mt. Airy, NC. Andy Griffith's home town. It's a great weekend with actors and celebs from the series. There are character impersonators and several squad car replicas. Here's a link to the website...

Mayberry Days - September 22-25, 2011 in Mount Airy, North Carolina

Hope to see you there!

Well if you ever get around to it you can count me in for two.

There's a Mayberry days? How on earth did I miss that! Thanks for the link.

I didn't realize there were so many badge variations out there. Here's mine and my newest acquisition.
