May your blade chip and break...

I really shouldn't be quite as thrilled to have picked this up at D*C as I am, but I'm pretty damn excited to have one finally. It needs some work. There are some pretty bad bubbles around the hilt, but it'll be pretty when I'm done.

Now, to ride the mighty sand worm.

I was seriously tempted after buying it to wander over to the dealer with the contact lenses and get me some blue eyes. :D

:lol I was referring to a bit of Dune trivia.

From Wikipedia:

A crysknife is the formal weapon of the planet's native Fremen. It is a double-edged curved knife, the blade about 20 centimeters long. The crysknife comes in two forms, fixed and unfixed. Unfixed knives are raw sandworm teeth used as weapons. They need to be stored in proximity to an electrical field produced by the human body or they will disintegrate after a period of time. Fixed Crysknives are put through chemical processes to keep them permanently intact.

Ok, so it took longer to get around to finishing this than it really should have, but it's pretty well done. I may go back with some rub-n-buff, we'll see.

sorry about the photo quality:

(oops... my fault... fixed the pic)

Kul-Wahad!! Were you able to work without a base coat? The knife in it's original form looks the right color to begin with, meaning you'd only have to use a dark brown stain on the handle and the silver on the cap.

Very nice work!

Yeah, for the most part there was no undercoat. I had to rebuild part of the hilt so it did get a coat of white in that area.
