may have finally come to a decision. (Star Trek related)

Hey. I've occasionally made posts asking about a couple suits for a few Star Trek characters. I eventually want to make a TNG era suit, and still look into possibly making Lore's borg leader suit. However, after some research on a couple threads, I'm deciding on going with a TOS tunic first and start out with that. Of the threads, I've noticed one name who's stood out from the rest, MurrayMousie. I'm either going to order from her, or make one of my own. if I make my own, I want to just ask straight up: where have you gotten your patterns? I've read mixed reviews about roddenberry.com and wanted to know more

Murraymousie is great. Fantastic communication, fast turn around, really good prices. You just have to be specific about what you want. Her high end pants with the zipper is much better than her lower end... kind of economy version.

Is her stuff 100% screen accurate? Nope. The best out there that I know if James Cawley's... but they're almost impossible to find and will cost you an arm, a leg and your first born.

I know Anavos was talking about doing them after their Trek '09 line... but there's been no mention of when that will be or what they will cost.

I believe roddenberry.com's patterns are the most accurate out there.

A lot of other sellers have had terrible reviews. Most of them just take your money and never send you anything. Or take forever to get it to you.

My personal opinion on how to make the uniforms look their best is in the tailoring. You can make them based on the most accurate patterns out there, with the best materials... but if you want it to look good, you've got to put it on and have it pinned up to look it's best.

Another plus for MurrayMousie - I went with the better pants and some upgrades on the tunic and they came out great. Make sure to get accurate measurements from what she requests - don't try and measure yourself; get someone to help.

She had the order done and in my hands within a week and they fit perfect. My wife who isn't really a Star Trek fan, but has seen all the shows thinks I look like I stepped right off the set. Now I know better as there are slight inacuraacies, however it's pretty close.

I went with some of the upgrades on the tunic - avacado dye, hidden zipper, Kattara braid and invisible seams. I would also ask if she can do the springweave collar.

The material she uses is close, but not quite accurate. I went with a third season outfit, so it is a double-knit, however it isn't diamond-weave and the color is slightly lighter than the screen used stuff. You can also send her stuff to make, Roddenberry.com sells more authentic braid and emblem and Captain JTK on the starfleet 1701st board is selling the authentic fabric (in correct colors) and collar for a great price.

In any case, she's great to deal with - you won't be disappointed.

Make sure to post pics when you get the costume done!
