After scouring the net and eBay like crazy recently, I got this off the bay, with the intention of 'jazzing it up' to make it more accurate, and was rather apprehensive at what I was actually going to get in the first place.
This item from this particular seller looked to be the best available for a moderate price, as the others all had either the totally wrong shape, smooth cone spikes instead of pyramid-shaped, etc, etc, etc.
To my surprise, when it arrived, it was WAY better than I expected ! It is made of 18-guage steel, HEAVY, and VERY well made IMHO.
My intention was to wash its protective oil off first, then weather it to remove the shine and make it more like the screen-used one.
I also wanted to remove the side rivets holding the swivelling mask in place, as they were brass coloured and the design not like the actual prop. My idea was to sculpt some round rivets out of clay & mould them out of resin, quick spray, and fix them on.
I stuck the helmet on the wall for a few days ..... and the little guy actually grew on me as it is.
All I did was remove the leather chin-piece that made the helmet wearable (yes, it even came with that ! but it was 'interfering' with the 'look'), and gave a quick and dirty chrome spray to those rivets.
I may eventually change the rivets, but for now, I like it :love
Personally, I think its not bad at all ..... for the 29 GBP it cost :lol
