MattyCollector "Mattel Hoverboard" discussion

Question for the side decals, how would you go about bending them to go up the kick tail without creating a crease, or would you have to cut them? I'm thinking in the case of Rolands silver strips he provides.

Thanks.

I am pretty sure when you bend them at and angle they will only crease a little bit and you can get them out with a hair dryer.

That's a really good question. I don't have an answer, but maybe anyone else has it.

Edit: Grant was faster. :)

OMG,

Mattycollector has just deleted the "Hoverboard Forum" from their bases!!!

Everything that was posted there has just simply disappeared!!!

Anybody knows what happen?!

Its been gone for about two days now. One of the "new users" recommended it get archived. The question on how they could not cost out better graphics as posted from here with the new kit had them too perplexed.

Best to hide it after that post.

They are screwing up on the Ghostbusters Goggles the same exact way. Some assume that by being able to cite bad sales from the purposely messed up project, they can justify cutting that franchise line. Looks like the Matty division is now trying to cover up their screw ups with corporate and blame it on the customers.

Proof right there that they don't want the bad comments to be seen by anyone to affect future sales, the next generation that will buy will never see this hoverboard thing now. Although they sold them all they have clearly wiped there hands due to the bad publicity it's been given.

Even the last comment I read was basically a if u don't, like it then lump it. I for one loved the ignorance that was given on the subject despite people's questions........typically swept it all under a rug and ran off just like a cowboy builder, took the money and ran

Not in their forum, that's correct. But the Internet is huge! :lol

Yeah, I saw that recommendation... But I didnt't realize they will take that so seriously or so fast (well, thinking better... if they were that "new user", it's understandable to them assume that suggestion, right?) anyway...

I created that two topics with "How Matty should have made the hoverboard" titles there, showing the Razorsharp's customization. It's unbelievable that Scott says that to produce the board with that kind of changing, it would high a lot theirs production's costs.

I presume that you saw that I said that basically the same materials that was applied over the board by them was the same used in that customization. Then I asked: "Why you think it will cost more?"

And what was the answer??? :behave

does it surprise you

In fact, considering all the history that we saw in this "Hoverboard's novel"... Definitely, I'm not surprised. :unsure

Many of the new users on the HB board were registering from CA and most with 1 or two post had glowing reviews of the board. I believe they were insiders trying to provide a balance for corporate when they took a look, as ell in the end an excuse to take it down so the negative post were not publicly available anymore.

Obviously, their marketing gurus are flunkies as bad as the design crew was on this project.

I wrote a lengthy editorial on what the Ghostbusters guys have been dealing with for the last 2 years with MattyCollector and Digital River. While the PKE Meter and Ghost Trap were amazing, everything else is incredibly poor in hindsight.

I specifically mentioned the BTTF Hoverboard, and hope I got the information correct. Feel free to add to that discussion with more info and personal expirences:

Thought I would share a litle something I made, with you guys....

AJ good write up. I think that sums up everything people are feeling in the community. Thanks for bringing it to the other GBfans.com members. With the pending ecto goggles, I think people might think twice about it. I would rather buy one from a fan and have them get that money then some faceless corporation.

Dont see why they cant make a actual hover board, if they can hover a craft over land and sea why not a single person?, it would obviously not be as it was in the bttf movie, however it would be a working version..

They've done it...it looks like this:

And this:

And they can't get much smaller than that due to a little thing called physics.

seriouslly, why do people care so much that it's not 100% exactly the same in every exact detail as the one used in the film? You will never get one that accurate unless you have the original screen used prop. So it looks like a toy, so what? the damn thing is a child's hover scooter with the handle removed. So, the decal is just a sticker and not lenticular, does it really matter that much? Are collectors really that sad, they have to go over ever inch with a magnifing glass and inspect every detail? I mean seriously most of you are just going to display it in a class cabinet or similar place and ever touch it, so really, does the fact that the screws are the wrong size, or the yellow is a little wider or narrower, or the foot strap isn't adjustable really matter, that much?
