MattyCollector "Mattel Hoverboard" discussion

Hi everybody!

This is my first post here on the RPF Community! I'm the guy who started to give a "push" into the Matty Collector's Forum, to see if they really cares about us and to providing us the perfect Hoverboard that we ever been dreamed. Since the beggining I've been just reading your posts on this thread and confirming how impressive you guys are about the minimum details of this prop. I decided to give the credits to you guys at Matty's forum because you really deserve it and we, as collectors, deserve the best hoverboard ever made in the world!

Well... even considering the actual situation, and everything that we've been watching and reading, I'm still optimist with the project. I just hope that the final hoverboard at least just appears like the one in the picture attached bellow:

This photo is from Mubis.es (BACK TO THE FUTURE HoverBoard Blu-ray) and the board it's from Hoverboard Replicas (that could get back quickly to sell the boards again). Afterall, I'm the guy that tried to buy one of them being here in Brazil, but unfortunately didn't have the chance in time. Now, let's wait the Mattel's Hoverboard final product and see if we will give a scream of happiness or an intense yell in choir: "GIVE OUR MONEY BACK!!!"

Let's see what happen in the future... (ok, I'm also tired of this "Back to the Future" jokes, but who can resist to do it, right!?)

Good vibes for everybody!

Is very nice to be part of this nice people's reunion!:thumbsup

Regards,

Wes Santana.

P.S.: Sorry for my bad english.

I hope they look as good as mine, but i'd be very surprised going on the pics we've seen so far and how Mattel don't really seem to care anymore now they've got our cash. They've already confirmed the foot strap is going to be velcro, the velcro on the foot pad wont be up to the edge (due to manufacturing limitations) and the pink velcro parts will be recessed, so they've already dropped the ball on this one. Sounds like they'll need stripping down and rebuilding to make them accurate unfortunately

For me the Mattyboard will be a good throw around "con" board. I would care less if it gets trashed.

I'll keep the one I pre-ordered just so that I can photograph it next to the one I build to make Mattel look like the buttwads they are for screwing this up so bad. Velcro foot strap. I mean come on.

Not saying this isn't a decent replica. But I think that I'd much rather custom make one myself. More fun! ;)

2nd that. Should start mine soon :)
Indeed. I've starting buying the pieces to create one. Can't cancel orders or change shipping adress ? Fine, that will be on Ebay then - if I can make a few bucks out of it, it will cover up for the pieces's cost.

I wonder if they're still going to show the finished model at NYCC. Or if that was just Mattel getting everybody off their backs with an empty promise. Time will tell, it's only one week away...

I saw this on the Matty Collector forums today from Toyguru:

"You will see a final board at NYCC next week! We went for as accurate as we could to the movie. It won't please every fan, but we did our best."

:facepalm

ps. Hi! I'm new

Given that above and the notes on the Matty forum, sounds like they tried to make some changes but they could not do it all. I am sure given the previous forum comments on budget and things being already in the works, they just did as much as they could but compromises had to be made in accuracy. Now it is going to come down to just how much had to be made.

I am interested in seeing the final results. I am not setting my expectations high on this one, but hope to be some what pleasantly surprised.

Im definitely gonna look out for it when i hear out to nycc. I really hope its decent...

Now that they have a final board to show at NYCC next week (so no more prototypes at this stage), I'm wondering if autoprops713 has a little more of his insider info about the board. It would be great to hear something to keep our hopes high or low.

Scott Neitlich aka toyguru gets a lot of grief. So i'm not going to blame him for tempering fan expectations ahead of NYCC. I will be very disappointed if Mattel Design didn't consult with Summers Plastics.

I'm still waiting for the exact color codes. :)

Changes or not, the moment Autoprops713 told us the board's mold was made with all its flaws, I do not really see what significant changes they could made... Make the pink color a litlle it orange-sih ? " So-not-final." Come on.
Expectations are really low here. :(

I think we all may dust-off our Dremel tools, buy some velcro, some pink fur, some paint, and work on the model.
Let's wait until NYCC next week. But I think that Scott's video about SDCC saying it was "WAY not so final model. Very early prototype" was another lie, as I think he was lying when he said they were going to put "A hologram. The shiny pink hologram we all know"...
Lie after lie? We will finally know... :popcorn
