MattyCollector "Mattel Hoverboard" discussion

It is a joke. It doesn't glide at all. It slides. You can just imagine how fast the silver paint will come off the big plastic magnets too when someone does decide to 'glide' it. I'd rather make my own.

What exactly is the difference between "glide" and "slide"?

Friction is the difference where this board makes physical contact with the surface it "slides" on. If the magnetic levitation seen in the film was real, then it would "glide" over the surface, friction free.

If by glide you mean levitation then why are people getting angry over the lack of a feature that could not possible exist in this toy? Maybe it was sarcasm?

Because they have made a claim that can not exist. They should have said "it slides over most surfaces".

Well, the most you can say is it is poorly worded but it's not like false advertising. I wouldn't hear the word "glide" and then act annoyed because it's more of a "slide". I'd expect the slide. I don't know how anyone could expect it to actually glide even if they used that word.

Take it from someone who had obsessed over this prop for many years...Ebay member bttf123 makes the most accurate hoverboard replicas, end of story.

Made! As far as I know he don't make them anymore. :confused

There is always a bttf123 board popping on eBay on a fortnightly basis, unless he made heaps of boards and put them away for sale at a later date...... I would assume he still makes them to sell or the seller on eBay is full of it

This is just an assumption however :confused

I have one of his boards with the lenticular and it looks perfect to me. I saw that he had a wood stunt version of the board listed recently on eBay. Be careful though. There is an eBay seller from Taiwan who sometimes posts fake listings of "BTTF123*" hoverboards using his photos.

BTTF123* is still selling boards on eBay occasionally, he just changed his username. I can't remember his new name, but it still has the "*" at the end.

Was considering buying one of the Taiwan boards..... :facepalm

I have not been able to get anyone to ship a bttf123 board to me

I want one!!

Toyguru's default answer is now - We will take your comments into consideration and - We are working to make it the best board we can. That leaves the door wide open, really interested to see just how the final product turns out.
Given the current curt responses along with no communications now on what is happening as opposed to what they popped out continually at the beginning, my confidence is not high for this one.

I own a BTTF123* board and they are very nice indeed. When I get my ****ty Matty Collector piece of crap I will upload comparision photos of the two boards.

Well, I guess it's good that I passed on this when it opened for pre-order and mainly because I was supposed to be moving in November and Mattel doesn't allow you to change your address. I guess it's a blessing in disguise.

I don't know, there is a chance that they might do the right thing. The past props have been fantastic and they KNOW now that if they do pop out a poorly made prop that it will get very bad net reviews, as well their reputation takes a hard hit. That's why I am taking the wait and see approach.

With the exception of the larger hole for the handlebar, this miniature Mattel Hoverboard looks pretty good. If Mattel can replicate that same look for their 1:1 scale replica, I think most collectors would be happy with it.

I will be glad to have this stunt board look as they long as replicate the lenticular look and color accurately in spite of not actually using the lenticular material.

We're getting closer to the shipping date, maybe Matty should release some definitive pics... or maybe they should'nt. I'm curious... really curious to see the final product.
