Mattel Ghost Trap?

Actually I would pay for the full cost so he isn't cheated. It is bad enough they took their sweet time to ship it, but to send a defective one is a kick in the goonies.
I would take you up on the offer but I'm almost positive Mattel needs these back before a replacement is sent. One of the members at Gb fans already got his email reply of how to go about a replacement. This is what they replied,

"Thank you for contacting the MattyCollector.com online store.

We apologize for the issue that you encountered. We are now able to
replace the defective figure you have received. Due to the dollar amount
of the figure we need verification that the product has been sent back
before we are able to ship out the replacement figure. Please supply the
following information so that we may have UPS pick up the incorrect or
damaged package. We can have UPS pick it up at a different address from
the delivery address, if it is more convenient. Upon receipt of your
e-mail, UPS will be attempting to pickup the product on up to three
consecutive business days if necessary. The first attempt may be as
early as the next business day. Please have your package ready for
pickup."

I'm not sure if they have to receive the trap back first to send out a replacement or if they will as soon as its confirmed UPS picked it up. Still waiting on my email so we'll see.

Got mine today, and it is working fine with new batteries. I was surprised by how weathered it is though. Everyone's is weathered right? lol

Yep! I just did a Matty Trap mod to make it work with our old Trap belt holsters. I think even with the pedal, it is lighter than my old traps alone.

Yet a fourth day of "transferring to USPS" in my town. I called USPS but they have no word. Last time I order directly from Matty directly. Seems like those who ordered through a dealer, even overseas, got faster better service. My trap toured this country and still cannot reach me :(

Would it kill some of these companies to reinvest a little of the profit they make by having these style products made offshore, in a little QC? I mean how hard is it to send a rep from the company to factory X to make sure that at least 98% of products leaving the factory are in working condition. Such waste involved with replacing and reshipping faulty items to say nothing of the bad publicity.

how accurate is this from the real prop?

According to Gbfans measurements, size wise if its off, its by millimeters.

There are some minor other accuracy issues, like one of the knobs and the side resistor detail, but the knob and resistor could easily be replaced with replica or actual ones.

And honestly, there are about 6 different versions of the trap from the two movies, each slightly different.

For the price and features its a hell of a killer deal!

I just made a simple mod to mine to use it on my trap holster. I just used flush mount picture hangers from Ace, and replaced the plastic battery cover door with a metal one to attach the picture hanger to.

Now I just have to decide what events its safe/practical to wear it to.

Just got to test mine out today. Works fine. Doors seem to be a little noisy when they open, but everything works just like the official Venkman, Inc. manual says it should.

how accurate is this from the real prop?

I wouldn't call it accurate at all, this is nothing like the PKE meter. This is a toy through and through, but it is terribly fun.

If you break it down into individual pieces like screws, knobs, boxes, switches, lights, etc. --nothing really replicates what was used/done on the originals. They're all varying approximations.

Got mine this week as well - Nice piece, feels a bit light but it looks good and the sounds / action works well.

I got mine in yesterday... Whew, that was a close one!
Overall, I like it a lot. I was worried about some of you guys reporting that you received faulty ones. Mine didn't work right at first. The trap would power up but not the pedal. I unplugged the hose/cable and pluggged it back in on both ends and all work well now. Bad connection the first time. It's louder than I thought it would be...that's cool. I went to a GB showing last night and sat in the balcony. Someone had one downstairs and I heard them playing with it before the show started. It was loud enough for me to instantly recognize it. It made me want sound in my pack! I think Mattel did a pretty good job on it. I'm a very happy kid again! :)

I got both of mine in the mail on Thursday (The morning of the Ghostbusters screening here in Orlando! :D ). I left one completely sealed and took out the other one for myself, and man is it fun. The joy of your cat not being able to stop itself from poking it's nose in the trap doors when they open, then jumping straight in the air when they snap shut NEVER fades my friends...

As for the technical problems being reported, I had none. No sweet-spot issue, no door noises, no issues of any kind at all actually. I even managed to make my quick-job trap holster in time for the screening, and the trap looks AMAZING as a belt prop. Turning it on and hearing the power-up sound really impresses ppl, as well as using it in tandem with the PKE meter.

according to the forums i have been looking at the eta to the uk on the regular normal postage from matty was anything around 20-30 days - like you im also awaiting the dreaded customs letter - usually usps has arrived within 10 days (inc weekends) but after reading about these traps going all over the place to get to the destination i bet our uk ones have gone halfway around america itself before it leaves the usa for blighty lol

this ones gonna be a drawn out wait and im expecting another 10 days wait till anything arrives to be honest
