Matrix banana phone

Hello all
Seeing as how the matrix is one of my favorite films it was surprising I didn't have any props from it ...till now. The nokia 8110 phone..how should I display it? Any thoughts? Any ideas on how to make the cover spring open like the film? Thanks

Maybe cannibalize the opening mechanism and latch from the 7110? I don't know how they did it for the film, could have been a completely custom deal. Unfortunately it looks like the 7110 isn't terribly cheap so you may be better off coming up with something on your own. Came up empty on finding anyone else who modded it in that way. Two promising search results came up blank and no Wayback Machine archive of them. But obviously if the prop department did it then it's possible.
