Hey guys (and gals)!
Well, a lifelong prop (replica) dream has been reached!! Ever since I was young, this was the sword that I wanted. Sure, the movie's not the best (and that may be an understatement!) but this sword in particular was THE one that I've always wanted to own and I've NEVER seen a replica of it!! About 4 months ago, I found a local prop maker and began talking to him about the possibility of making this into a reality. He was eager for the work and the project seemed to excite him, so he agreed! He's not a sword maker, per se, but he has an impressive body of work that got me even more excited to see the final product!! The sword blade is made of Aluminum, as the original prop was (steel being just too darn heavy with a blade that size!). The guard was meticulously hand carved out of hard wood and painted gold. The pommel is machined brass. The handle is just wrapped right now, and that's something i am going to tackle separately - I have some ideas to make it perfect.
I'm sure many of you are curious about the price, and I will be honest here, this project was pretty costly, but given the craftmanship, materials, and overall look, it's worth every penny to me. Plus...I've been saving for it for a long time!
Anyways, I hope you all enjoy this, as it's the first of it's kind that I've ever come across. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves...
Also, if you'd like to know more, feel free to PM me. I told the prop maker I wouldn't plaster his info all over the boards, per his wishes, but if someone is genuinely interested in this or pretty much any other prop, my experience with him was quite good.
AND YES, I am definitely posting this on the HE-MAN Boards!!!
