Re: Master Replicas is back?

It's odd everyone is assuming that MR would return immediately with Star Wars. Lets not forget it was one of the first licenses they dropped as they began to bail. Most people in the business would tell you that no one could ever do what MR did with SW again.

Re: Master Replicas is back?

Wow, that's certainly interesting. I own several of MR's full size and scaled pieces. They put out some great stuff.

Re: Master Replicas is back?

I´ve never seen/had a single piece from them that i would consider worth the requested price.

Now i´m down to one of their blasters, which i will gladly let go as soon as i find another real one of it´s baseguns.

Re: Master Replicas is back?

MR had its own good and bad things. I own a few MR collectibles myself, and regarding their props are not as accurate as the ones made from genuine parts, they are still cool. Though I totally prefer a replica made with real parts, I understand the appeal for some collectors to own licensed prop replicas coming with shiny display base, nice COA and plaque

Yes real parts are always better. But I really love my MR pieces. They are well made and with the plaques and the glasscases it looks very good.:)

Any of these names mean anything?

Re: Master Replicas is back?

Is it possible this has nothing to do with EFX at all?

Perhaps Disney is starting them up again?

That is what I was thinking as well. What better way to have licensed SW props than Disney making their own. Master Replicas is pretty well known in the world collecting too

Re: Master Replicas is back?

This was posted by my old co-worker, Amy on the Rebelscum forums:

Hello Old Friends!

I just wanted to say thanks for some of you for still thinking of me. I really appreciate it and I really miss working at MR and seeing all of you. I can tell you that I am not involved in this in any way and I believe the person who has the rights to the MR name is going to be located in England and as far as I know, doesn't have the Star Wars license. But hey, if you find out if anyone has the license for high-end collectibles, I may be available.

I miss you guys.

Amy

I thought the Medal of Yavin was a good buy at that price. Went too quick for me to catch though.

Re: Master Replicas is back?

Don't think it's anything to do with EFX. The current owner of the MR brand is Darren Epstein who owns Factory Entertainment and has previous links to Corgi Int'l. His LinkedIn profile hints that MR is returning for 2016 although no mention of any SW licensing. The FE website doesn't give nothing away either.

Re: Master Replicas is back?

I own several MR props, their amazing must have studio scale Millennium Falcon, At-At, Y- wing (repainted) Snowspeeder ect... they did indeed produce some amazing pieces, I'm very satisfied with their products, oh and their ?Boba Fett helmet is actually very nice!

Re: Master Replicas is back?

That being said, it doesn't mean that this "new" company would adhere to those standards. They could put out lower cost and lower quality items for the masses, or perhaps they will replicate high definition numbered screen accurate items (or perhaps both). It will be interesting to see what happens. June of 2016 is the startup date.

Re: Master Replicas is back?

I'm curious if this "new" Master Replicas will make props of any kind or make completely different things. Maybe it will be a pickle company LOL

Re: Master Replicas is back?

I bought most of their Star Trek line and I remember apart from the product quality, their packaging was second to none.
