Hoping someone more knowledgeable can help here, wanted to get my partner a darth maul light saber for Xmas, have however discovered he already has 1 so I now only need to buy 1 so he has the double light saber, problem is I asked if his was force fx and he said it was master replica, I'm aware these are the same company but can only find stores selling new force fx ones not master replica and I'm guessing the connections won't work if I get force fx?? Do they not have master replica now so I need to get a second hand one from ebay etc or are they still available somewhere? Or will force fx connect to the older one?

Force Fx isn't a brand. It's the item being sold. Master replicas folded in 2007 then Hasbro took over the Force Fx line. The 2007 signature series from Hasbro were identical to the MR but are discontinued. Now the they produce the black series force FX lightsaber. It's the same MR hilt but with a different sound board. I'm sure it would connect with the MR but it won't have the same sound.

Also the finishes often vary when it comes to the Force FX Maul hilts, even when it's the same company and year/version. As such, it can be difficult to get a uniform look between the two hilts.

Thanks for the replies, would you suggest getting 2 new force fx so they are more likely to match or source an older master replica one, it seems the price of 1 MR is much the same as 2 force fx, is there much difference in quality?
