Master Chief!

Very nice. Looks like someone has gleamed some info from the Halo/405th boards. Glad you made it out alive from all those kids!

Sweet work, looking great!

Pepakura I assume? Awesome work so far. Thinking about doing this myself just for the sake of the challenge. Also there is the fact that I have yet to see any progress on a UNSC Marine so I guess the Master Chief will have to be friendless out there.

You have inspired me to head off to Wally-World and get a pack of 110# card stock of paper my friend. Need to head over and figure out how to properly scale and resize these files.

So, are you going to make recasts of the other armor pieces or just fiber glass what you have and wear it? Take lots of photos and post when you can. Many thanks.

That was probably the worst thing you could have posted dude. :angry As CMANavy says, read your regs!

FYI, Mardon scratchbuilds ALL his products and does an amazing job with em too. Nice work as always bro!

Stay safe,

Tim.

I'm hoping he meant "mold and cast":unsure

Awesome work as usual Mardon!:thumbsup
And expect an e-mail from me soon ;)

In his defense, I think this was just a miswording. I'm sure he meant, is he going to fiberglass over the cardboard pieces and just wear it or will he cast the other parts like he did his helmet.

OOPS!! :lol

Sorry everyone that was totally a miss wording. FRACK ME

My sincerest apologizes to you sir and everyone else on this board. Won't do that again. However, it's nice to know that everyone here is honorable enough to take issue with any who would slander your good work.

Okay, getting things back on track, what I mean to say was this:

You have, what looks like, the Pepakura method of making the helmet and armor. then you fiber glassed and bondo the outside. After that made a mold off of the helmet you constructed to get something a lot smoother and made out of a different material. My question was where you planing on doing this for the rest of the armor?

This is in NO WAY to suggest that you are copying someone else work and your stuff is not original. I just was hoping to learn new techniques about casting. Especially the shoulder pieces since it is different than the helmet.

I hope that clears things up. :cool

Yes, we will actually.
Just like the helmet, we plan to mold each & every part of the costume.
While I dont see anything wrong with guys reinforcing the Pep & wearing them, I just felt that after reworking on the pep with additional cardboard & bondo- it gets a bit heavy and you still have the possibility of the bondo cracking later on & ruining your paint job or worsetaking with it a chunk of your cardboard details with it.

Naturally, having it molded & pulling a fiberglass copy from the mold will yield a lighter & more durable product to wear.
